I'd like to kill the Scions

Please... just let me betray and eliminate my erstwhile papier-mâché band of fake people. I'm so done having this unlikable entourage tagging along every expansion. It's gotten to the point where it would no longer be satisfying enough for me to watch, say, Y'shtola die - I need to do it myself (and, hey! It's not like she could see it coming!).





I get that this is a Final Fantasy; I get that these characters are intended to be my 'party.' But that really isn't true, is it? They never really help me; they're never present at ground zero when **** truly hits the fan in, say, a raid - other players are. Other players are my real party; other players are my friends, allies, comrades, etc. Thus, the Scions are doubly ridiculous - they're both annoying/poorly written, and they're superfluous to a game that emphasizes teamwork with other human beings.

If I can't behead the lot of them with my big DRK sword all Gaffgarion-style, at least leave the Scions stranded bodiless on the First. This is the perfect opportunity to be rid of them... so even if I cannot have the pleasure of cutting big, gaping holes in some plot armor, you can at least do us all (okay, most of us? The vast majority of us? The sane minority of us?) the favor of assuring the Scions' collective departure from the story moving forward.

While I don't feel the desire to go all backstabby about it, I would apprecaite it if they actually let some deaths be final. Papalymo got the short end of the stick as being the only Scion that SE found truly dispensable. But yeah, as a whole, I just really dislike how they have so many fake deaths in this game. Lets start having some proper deaths! Just don't hurt Alphinaud, he's adorable.

The sad thing is, the only two Scions I somewhat enjoyed have both been written out. Once Papalymo went, I feel like they didn't know what to do with Yda anymore.

Yda was written off before ARR even took off, and what we got instead was the single most boring character in FF history, and had an entire expansion revolving around her, where the only saving grace was any time there was a cutscene with Zenos. I abhorred stormblood.

In any case, of all the Scions, just let me fight Aliasdihfvodifhvo however her name is spelled. I want to pound the poor Michelle Rodriguez wannabe so hard with a blunt dull sword.

Personally hoping what happened to Y'sholta wasn't simply pulling her out all fine and dandy but like she starts to fade and is simply her code/blueprint given life via his creation magic (not even to his malice, was simply the best he could do to bring her back, a sort of super accurate clone). May elongate that farwell with her coming to terms with it, and perhaps offering a final farewell of help to the group via sticking around the city of creation magic and learning what she can (delaying her dissipation). But in the end she will fade.

I enjoyed ShB but there did feel like quite a bit of plot armor going on lol. Would be nice to see someone's plot armor not actually be plot armor, or something.

That would actually make for an interesting story line. Idon't know how willing SE would be to kill off their poster-girl though. :X

And this is probably the wrong thread for this, but on a slightly-aether related note - how is it that Thancred & Urianger were able to go back to the Source after completing the Eden fights? IIRC, at the end of ShB, they were still trying to find a way to get back to their bodies. At the end of the Eden CSs, the two of them were saying it was there time to go back home. I swear I was trying to pay attention, but I seem to have missed something big :P

Thancred and Urianger are still stuck on the first they havent gone back to the source. They're just talking about it

Edit: and to stay on topic of this thread I used to hate Thancred in 1.0 and only joined the Immortal flames to watch him die... Alas he didnt and they actually improved him... I wouldnt want any of the scions to die or for me to kill them... Maybe slap Alisaie around for using the limit break too much but that's it.

One thing I notice: if you are a female character and you're dead, you're dead for good. But if you are a male character, chances are at some point you will be back, hahah.

I mean, Nanamo would beg to differ with that. Unless you're not counting her as an example of dead. But if you are I'm not sure you can count any male characters legitimately coming back from the dead either. Generally it's just "sometimes there is a fake out that seems like death but isn't really".
