No, it isn't. This is a case of data transfer and data storage issues which require very different considerations and solutions. The UI is for the most part doing everything correctly, but is not getting all the data that needs to be displayed. If the server was sending the full list of buffs/debuffs/dots the client could potentially parse and cull them down to primarily display the applicable ones, but the server is not.

I know my timers well enough so that it doesn't affect me too badly.
Would you be doing alright if the total debuff limit regularly caused only 1 (if any) of your DoTs to be applied at all? Knowing your timers is meaningless if your casts are not actually applying them.

This. I'll also add that you if your buff didn't appear you actually had no clue whether your cast was indeed applied but just not being one of the 48 displayed, or if it had not been applied at all because it exceeded the 100 status limit. That is definitely not a UI-only issue. Playing SMN on boss fates back in 2.0 was a crapshoot whether or not you actually did any DoT damage or not.

I like DoTs for SMN, because over the years I decided to invent my own classifiers, and I call BLM "Energy Mages"... and SMN are "ENTROPY Mages".

The DoTs from a SMN, look to the Uneducated, like disease... but they're really the SMN employing Entropy to slowly and painfully "Un-do" their foes by accelerating specific, local Entropy.

And of course SCH heal by reversing Entropy.

    (Just headcanon, I know)

"Rot, you pathetic fool. Mua. Muahah. MUAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA"

The pets are a nuisance, really, but hey.

IMO DoT's are fine in game in general. However essentially having every job possess atleast 1 DoT ability is overusing the mechanic. I feel like a number of the 1 off DoT's possessed by most DPS jobs could go away as they kind of just feel like a filler unless its built into an actual debuff that applies another effect along with it. Perfect examples of this type of debuff are seen in FFXI with Dia and Bio. Dia caused DoT but also weakened enemy defense. Bio caused DoT and also weakened enemy attack.

Removing DoTs would require a third rework for BRD, as DoTs are very heavily tied to its Repertoire mechanic that was added in the Stormblood rework. Can we please avoid that? Hasn’t that job been changed drastically enough? Besides, the job is already super basic as it is. What bit of complexity it had last expansion was removed this expansion; so I’d rather not see the DoTs go, too.

I’d rather healers get a second DoT back, too. I miss Aero III on WHM so much. It gave me more to do than Dia every 30 seconds and then spam Glare until my eyes cross. Because Hydaelyn knows you aren’t doing much in terms of healing.

K, so not a class design issue? Which is what you were calling it before?
'Cause that's what I'm saying. My thing is it's how the dots are displayed is the issue, not that classes are bad because they have dots.
I think we're looking at this from opposite ends. My perspective is: server -(causing issues with)-> UI display, not dot classes being present -(being bad for)-> other dot classes

God, I haven't had that issue in a long while (I think it's been since ARR Odin), but since I've always had skills that are dependant on dots being applied, I could always tell when they were on (aka, festers hitting for the right amount, thundercloud procs, etc). It's not ideal, but in content with that many people ya rarely have to be 100% optimal. But seriously, what content are you doing right now to have ~50 BRDs or SMNs in one place? I don't think I've seen even eureka get that populated. ._.

Why do people insist on asking to play jobs in the most basic iterations imaginable?

Other than the pets, the dot playstyle is one of the main things I find attractive about the SMN being my main class- no thanks to removing dots from the game, if I wanted to play a BLM I'd do so.

No thanks if you wanna extend boss fights to be longer and have longer dungeons that to me would actually kill this game.
I don't want to extend the life of a boss, its bad enough some raids take long as they do because sometimes they are failed because of mess ups.

I am tired of really community input on the game I have quit few times already due to Square enix listening to people instead of just doing their job and having faith in themselves to make us happy but they are letting the community ruin the experience.

You can attack me for my opinion but man I played in way better community's like FFXI was super good there will never be a community like it ever again, here you can't talk to people, you can't joke, you can't say anything without being worried you're going to get a strike and these days people take offense to literally everything, people want to usher in this whole you have to be like me, you have to like me you have to like people aren't supposed to have free will.
