    Is it time to remove dots from the game?

    With very few exceptions dots in shadowlands are just pointless busywork that lock you out of using your fun abilities. Want to use your cool big hitting ability as SAM? Not until you waste a sen on a dot cause "it's more dps". Dots should either be removed completely or reworked to do less damage, making them only useful for things like boss transitions so they're not part of a classes' core identity and rotation.

    Why have any skills at all? Just have us mash 1 skill that skill has 1,000 potency every time, is always a direct crit, and the recast time is 0.10 seconds. Peak efficiency.

    just design a job to use them instead just delete them, or speard it accross all job like this now

    i think BRD is a good job to focus on DOT and SMN should be free from DOT

    Well while we're at it, I think we should remove the first two parts of a 3 button combo and skip straight to the the finish cuz those 3rd parts are the biggest and coolest.

    And maybe we could prune more stuff from our arsenal, like shaving healer's two attack skill to just one and make the game exciting even more for them.

    Casters don't need all those skills either. Just have smn use only bahamut, red mage should just have grey meter from mixing white and black gauge and blm should only have access to flare.

    Yeah, no, thats a bad idea. Combat is already pretty simple, removing dots would make it more so.

    I wouldn't mind is bard got a bane skill next expac though. Maybe on iron jaws

    This has nothing to do with that.

    As for the actual topic, I don't think DoTs should be removed just like I don't think all jobs should have DoTs whenever that topic comes up. Having a variety of jobs that run the gamut from being DoT heavy (BRD, SMN) to non-DoT (RDM) to basic DoTs (NIN, SAM) and even to quasi-DoTs (MCH) is always better.

    I personally prefer jobs that have little to no DoT management, but that doesn't mean there aren't those that do and there should exist jobs for both.

    Nothing is stopping you from ignoring Higanbana on SAM. Well, other than being a trash SAM if you were to actually do that. On a less snarky comment, DoTs tend to be the highest potency-per-GCD ability that most jobs have, even moreso in the case of something like SMN which can apply its DoTs through an oGCD weave. Removing DoTs is just a bad idea all around.

    I honestly hate DoT management but don't think they should go away entirely. I will agree that they do feel very awkward on SAM though. I'd be fine with some classes being very DoT heavy and others being free of them entirely.
