Do ShB subtitles continue to suck?

Just got to ShB, and super hyped. To find for the first time in FF14, that they seem to leave out a ton of subtitles.

Curious if this is an ongoing thing, and I have to take the hit and switch back to English. Or if it just happens in the first quest or two?

If you mean like incidental dialogue in the background not getting onscreen text, there are a few cases of that throughout, but important dialogue will always get text.

I assume you are talking about the scene under the crystal tower where wedge and tataru are talking

Besides, the english dub is p good imo. Especially with two particular ShB characters

And the entire "Traveling through the aether" scene with memories and such.

That's probably the only serious moment that has dialogue with no text (that I remember), generally it's more used for comedic moments scattered throughout.
