of course it is as its from another bloody franchise. cant wait for te yo kai 24 man raids that consume a entire expansion full of 24 man raids. honestly id rather just have a instance than neir taking over shb ONLY raids like this
Much of the game is a love letter to Ivalice, so the Return to Ivalice raids never felt out of place to me. I'm hoping we see more of Matsuno's influence as the game moves forward.
I just did the first part of this new raid and... it's incredibly beautiful, I didn't know where to lay my lustful gaze.
Fights were interesting and challenging (for a noob like me) too.
With that said, I have to agree it feels terribly out of place, even more so than the contrived homage to Ivalice in Stormblood.
It's... I dunno, I have mixed feelings.
On one hand I love the fanservice and the depth they went to to show their love for Automata.
On the other hand... this is way beyond what a fanservice should be. Make it some side quests, limited event, special fates, whatever, but a whole raid is way too much.
With such a rich, beautiful lore that doesn't wait anything else than someone who wants to delve deeper into it, they really don't have to resort to such cheap tricks to attract people imho.
It truly, truly feels completely out of place.
Shame because it's really beautiful :-(
This is even worse than Stormblood, damn.
Oh and yeah I agree about the Omega thing. There was a loose explanation there, an interdimensional rift and so on.
Excuse? Maybe, but it fit into the FFXIV lore much better, while also allowing the dev teams for a plethora of fanservice looking back to old FF games.
I mean that was an acceptable compromise if you ask me.
Ivalice in SB and especially NieR in ShB? Way beyond acceptability, in my humble opinion.
