So it's "just" an homage?
I mean FFXIV has always been full of cames homage to other episodes in the series, like Garlean empire inspired by FF6, the Magitek mounts as well. We could start a list now and by tomorrow we still wouldn't be done filling it up.
There's also a lot of side-quests cameos with Reference to FFXIII, FFXV, Dragon Quest, but they all feel like Side content so you don't really ask too many questions and simply enjoy it.
Here things are so deep... and so copy-pasted, it hardly feels like a "homage" at all. How does all those "deities" from the Zodiac fit in in the FFXIV universe, where we have Primals, Zodiark, Hydaelyn and everything else?
It all feels a bit, I dunno, out of place?
Seriously contrived?
Or maybe I'm just missing something, clearly...
I mean the Alliance Raids of ARR and HW fit bloody perfectly in the Main Story Quest of FFXIV. In the FFXIV lore in general.
This Ivalice series of raids feel... so out of place really.
Is it just me? Am I unawaringly biased? I swear I love Matsuno's work so it's not that.
Edit:
I mean it's beautiful in itself, a bit confusing maybe but beautiful.
It just feels, I dunno, like it's in the wrong place, it's hard to explain.
