    Increase Difficulty of Dungeons

    Hello,

    Can we please increase the difficulty of dungeons? And perhaps the game as a whole?

    It saddens me that there is all of this seemingly great content from ARR, Heavensward, and Stormblood but it poses little to no challenge.

    I recently ran The Stone Vigil, a level 41 dungeon, on an alt, and I couldn't believe how easy it was. The tank pulled multiple rooms at once, more than I had ever seen before, was able to stay alive no problem and I flew through the dungeon faster than I ever have before.

    This kind of play style may be suitable for some but I am not a fan. I need a challenge to enjoy a game. If everything is a cake walk, I am going to lose interest as I am already beginning to do.

    I always thought that our gear was down leveled enough so that even old content would provide a reasonable challenge, be engaging and fun to complete again. Now though, it feels like the majority of the game, dungeons, and bosses are a complete joke.

    I know there are aspects of Shadowbrings that provides more of a challenge, raiding being one of them but what happened to the other 90% of the game?

    I would love to see an increase in difficulty around the board.

    The lack of difficulty poses a problem as well. People get so used to barely doing anything and coasting through the game until they are faced with a dungeon that has maybe 1 or 2 mechanics that simply can't be ignored and all of a sudden nobody knows how to act.

    This game should be constantly challenging you and steadily increasing in difficulty and demanding more from you until it reaches an appropriate level and remains consistent.

    Without difficulty, your content becomes meaningless filler with no purpose. This is just sad. If things stay this way I have to say, I won't be playing for much longer, what is the point?

    While I don't raid that much, I have enjoyed it in the past and would maybe get more into it when I'm ready to but if the other 90% of the game is a joke why would I care?

    This really needs to be fixed and I'm not sure how it got so bad. At the very least, properly scale us back in these lower level dungeons so we can have a challenge.

    What you speak of is wanting a better difficulty curve, its a fair enough request considering how easy the game starts and how easy it ends. However you just opened a big can of worms so brace yourself.

    It makes no difference to me what can I opened. What I'm saying is true, I'm not interested in debating it and will likely ignore any replies this thread receives because nobody can change my mind on this and I'm also just simply not interested in others' opinions on the subject.

    I merely posted to get the word out and say my peace, whatever comes after it is irrelevant to me unless the difficulty is actually increased, then I'd care but I have my expectations in the proper place.

    You have to remember a few things. When you queue in that instance most of the people are wearing gear multiple ilvls higher then that dungeon. So if it were scaled around ilvl 70 then someone who is 80 queuen might be in 490ilvl gear.

    The dungeon is supposed to auto adjust that gear and abilities to ilvl 70 but that is not always a smooth process so you go in a nuke the instance especially with a very geared tank and healer. Any healer in gear that is actually lvl 41 for Stone Vigil would not be able to keep up with the healing demand.

    There is also hard modes for Stone Vigil that I never see anyone chain pull.

    That's what I thought too but the healer was leveling and only in around level 35 gear. Another reason I was surprised we were clearing everything as quickly as we were.

    Isn't level 70 ilvl around 400?

    I have to admit I did just run Aurum Vale and it was more challenging than expected given the tank had good gear. Sometimes the scaling does seem better and you can have fun and feel engaged but that Stone Vigil run really surprised me.

    Old dungeons are geared for older ability kits. New jobs and updated kits are usually scaled for end-level content. RDM is a prime example of potency being broken at early level.

    Main Scenario quest are a good example where the ilvl is supposed to be adjusted by bosses just get nuked. The ability sets are different also. This is just my best guess as to why it got pulled so quickly. That tank was probably geared and that healer was sweating lol

    Why? If you want a challenge there is Savage/Ultimate - that's what they are there for.
    The majority of the game is not intended to be truly challenging.

    Many of the dungeons will feel trivial when
    a) Everybody in the group knows the dungeon
    b) Everybody in the group has good gear and knows have to play their classes/jobs.

    Try running the same dungeon with a bunch of newbies who have never seen the dungeon before and who have just good enough gear to enter the dungeon. I think you will find that the dungeons are far from trivial for such a group - and the dungeons are tuned such that this kind of group will still have a chance of getting through them.

    In that case, what makes you think anyone is interested in your opinion on the subject?
