    Glamour Dressers: Remove Role Requirement.

Hello and hope you're having a good day!
I want to start off by saying I love many of the armor designs in this game, and was hoping I could put in a desired suggestion for me and hopefully many others.

There are so many unique and amazing looking armors in FFXIV that I'd very much like to use but due to role restriction I'm unable to to wear them. So if role restriction would be removed in the Dresser, people could customize their characters further and roleplay even harder if desired!

How it could work (All up to the devs) is that when an item is placed into a dresser, role requirement is removed, making it available for all classes, but not class specific restrictions, so that classes / jobs still have their own unique design other classes / jobs can't run off with. To clarify if needed: Mind / Strength / Intellect / Dexterity armors and jewelry (Optional) can be used by any Mind / Strength / Intellect / Dexterity classes, but a White Mage cannot wear Dark Knight specific armor, even while it is placed within the Dresser.

I often get very upset when I see so many new armors come into the game but I cannot wear the ones I truly find amazing. I've often felt very demotivated and somewhat unfairly treated because of the class I play. Seeing Tanks and Melee DPS get very cool armor, while as Magic DPS or Healer, I'm bound to receive the silly or female specified looking armor.

I am not saying that they're ugly, or one should feel bad for liking Magic DPS or Healer armor, I just don't find it quiet as nice on myself, but might look a lot better on those who enjoy wearing it. But for me I often think, what is the point of playing this class/job if I don't get to look the way I want? I could also level a job role that let's me wear the role specific armors, but then I'd be playing a class I don't enjoy, having to spend hours of effort and time to gearing and glamour farm for a class/job I genuinely do not enjoy to play as, lessening my enjoyment of the game.

I would love to grab Tank role armor and put it on my Black Mage, dye it black so I can feel like a powerful dark magic user. Or color it white for a White Mage to look like a Healer based Paladin. All for the roleplay and feel as I play the game, having fun in my own way.

Many people could enjoy this feature and it'd be amazing if it could be introduced into the game. There are so many amazing armor designs I wish to use and see others use to express themselves, and it would really put FFXIV a step above other MMO's transmog / glamour systems.

My deepest apologies if another post like this has already been made. I hope you'll take the time to read through it and give me your honest opinion, for or against this idea, I'll respect it equally!

It would be nice, but it's not what the glamour dresser does.

The dresser is designed to work on top of the original prism system without changing how it works. When you apply a plate, the system behaves as if you applied a series of prisms to your current outfit.

Once applied, there's no difference. The system just sees "Gear A glamoured as Gear B" regardless of how the glamour got there.

(Also, this really isn't a "direct line to the devs" forum. If you're very lucky a thread will gain enough traction that they might have it passed on, but it's not just read by them.)

I'm all for this with probably the exception of job artifact gear. The Devs already mix and match role gear when creating NPC attire, and if its all just aesthetics and not the stats I dont see why not. (other than them wanting to repurpose other roles models later as "new" gear)

The sensible compromise is letting you use any gear as glamor that you can wear while playing the currently required class/job.

So if you have a level 80 Paladin, you can use all those paladin glamors on other classes you play.

This would be in keeping with this game's philosophy of "you can do it all on one character."

As it is, the least useful glamors are all the nice ones that require one specific class. You have to buy multiple gear sets to use them, or change your glamor plate every time you switch classes and burn through prisms like a mad man.

We seem to have this discussion here seemingly every month or every other month. What we do know is that whenever anything related to removing glamour role restrictions makes it to an interview or such, Yoshida quickly shoots down the very concept by using extreme (and arguably feckless) examples like "no, I don't want BLMs using WAR axes" or "that would confuse people about what job/role people are actually playing as;" ignoring the fact that most reasonable players asking are not asking to have access to other job's weapons and those actually wanting to wear iconic job AF regardless of actual job are a rather small subset. The role cosmetic confusion excuse just falls flat when you can see what job/role icon people are in your party/alliance list, and that they've already unlocked multiple gear from their previous restrictions (DoW through DoH) in the past by means of alternative crafted/reward variations.

In reality I'm still betting that they will never willingly implement a sweeping role-removal restriction on glamours because they will always fall-back on releasing "all classes" variations of previous role-locked gear to pad-out rewards on new content or crafting recipes.

Just like tackle boxes it ain't going to happen.

Just like tackle boxes people have been asking for this forever.

Just like tackle boxes Squenix has said repeatedly it ain't going to happen.

Face it, it just ain't going to happen.

I just discovered this (new to the game) and am so sad - I collected a cool set of thematic armor for my bard, but some of it is caster versions of the same set - all very BRD appropriate. I think weapons should be locked... but when people run around as bunnies or in t-shirts and shorts... I don't understand why I can't create my feather themed bard set.
