Green mage can have all instant casts, or it can be a limited job. All I can offer. If Green Mage is a thing, its basically sage level of 'free real estate' for the devs. After all what was Green Mage in prior games? A debuffer and buffer specialist. It wielded hammers.
Silences, Blinds, Elemental Damage Resist Buffs, Protect, Shell, Leap (raise move speed), Tranq (raise accuracy), spellbound (extends duration of debuffs and buffs).
I feel if it did become a thing it gets rolled into geomancy or is made into its own thing that revolves around something druidic like plants.

Yea, as if you try to go full ham with the debuff/buff specialist angle, its either a super support dps (more so than red mage and dancer combined) job OR or a healer without heals.
And pointing back to how its sage level 'free real esate' as sage's gimmick in prior games is it was red mage in that it had access to both white and black magic but lacked the physical combat aspect.

Check this out.

Unless they have solved the amount of effects an enemy can have on them at a time, this won't work out very well. One of the reasons for the DoT removal on a lot of jobs was that in situations like Eureka and Hunts mobs were getting too many DoTs applied to them and not all of them would take, so jobs like Bard and SMN would loose a good deal of DPS if they were unable to land all of their DoTs.

In my prediction it won't be until 2 expacs later at the latest, so I don't see why they can't fix the spaghetti code for that.Unless they have solved the amount of effects an enemy can have on them at a time, this won't work out very well. Im thinking they will choose a caster or a physical range. Right now physical ranged are in a very weird spot so to make them more desired I am expecting them to introduce a new one to and overhaul of that role to fix that. I dont think they will introduce a new melee dps next expansion.

Last Physical Ranged DPS was Dancer (Shadowbringers)
Last Healer was Sage (Endwalker)
Last Tank was Gunbreaker (Shadowbringers)
Last Melee Dps was Reaper (Endwalker)
Machinist was the one to make Bard share its aiming gear. (Heavensward)
Samurai was the one to make Monk share its striking gear. (Stormblood)
Reaper was the one to make Dragoon share its maiming gear. (Endwalker)
And now that just leaves Ninja. The only job in the game with gear to itself.
If it is a repeating cycle since Stormblood, then we are due to see another two dps as the new jobs of +1 Scouting Dps and +1 Magical Dps.
If its an adjusted cycle since Shadowbringers, then we are due to see +1 Tank and +1 Dps (Scouting or Caster)

You also have to remember that they did say eventually we may see the stop of the 2 jobs per expac tend. So it's really possible we only get one job in 7.0. My hope is for a new caster. I want at least another option in casters since the smn rework semi ruin the job for me. I have two other choices in my group since Im the caster, BLM, and RDM, I hate blm, and I'm meh on rdm. I just like a 4th choice. For melee, you have 5 jobs to choose from. I just think we are due for another caster job but we see. We could get another melee and if do I just have to wait another 2 years....To narrow it down:

This is well thought and logical. To narrow it down:

I don't think SQEX would actually follow the logic but they definitely can be influenced by it.
Since they split Healers into 2 categories, it's not impossible (but unlikely) to see a 5th healer as a pure one.
Gunbreaker was added to better balance the tank trio. Until Shadowbringer, there was always one tank in the shadow.
I personally think they don't care much about the gear being shared and a Scouting gear job would be for 8.0.
I think a new caster would balance the caster trio.
Currently, Caster jobs are 2 opposite extremes (BLM/SMN) and 1 middle ground (RDM).
I like to see a actual Assassin job considering Ninja is focusing more and more on Ninjutsu each expansion and have even removed Assassination from their skill for the more Ninjutsu style skill Dream Within a Dream.
It does open up possibility for Assassin Job now with mechanic focus more on Assassination skills while Ninja Job focus more on Ninjutsu skills.
