I never said they needed to craft though. If they are only interested in crafting for profit then they should probably move on to something else.Far be it from me to yuck someone elses yum, but I'm comfortable saying that most players are looking for some sort of progression. Now whether it be monetary or item level or just collecting stuff, that's subjective, but most of the people who play this game aren't logging in JUST to process materials for other players.
Personally since they've reworked crafting I don't find any sort of entertainment value in something I can guarantee with the right macro.
Nobody NEEDS to make a killing off a sale, but as a lot of crafters also aspire to amass money to fund further crafting or just to have.. there's nothing bad about not wanting to craft for no profit margin.
Have you perhaps considered making another item instead, there are always items which are in demand and nobody is making them.
Competition is always good for the consumers.

Yo, just out of innocent curiosity, what exact items is this malevolent being selling for cheap?

Here again, we have a demonstration of people not understanding Opportunity Cost; time is the ultimate cost even if you gather everything yourself. The time that you spent gathering stuff yourself could have been used to do something more profitable. It's called Capitalism. If I can make a thing cheap and sell it for a high price and still undercut everyone in the same market I will, and do. My average price is usually 5k gil. I make millions with little effort, and no need for bots, I just gather my own materials.
To the OP, diversify the products you sell and try to sell across the DC. Undercutting doesn't matter as much when you sell diverse products across the DC.
If it can be sold at a much lower price while still have a good profit margin I don't see why not. MB is full of overpriced stuff. If you can still get a favorable profit when undercutting that means that the item was overpriced and thus gets balanced.
This is not about free competition, demands, capitalism etc. etc. That said person (or more) have monopolized many items on the marketboard on EVERY server, not just on one server in the light datacenter. Have a look at most endgame glamour items and see who crafted them. I doubt that one person is able to craft so many items that we're talking about so it's probably more cartels who are excluding everyone else. I believe this IS a game issue that one person or a few persons have exclusive sales and thus take the fun away from so many other crafters, because it's impossible for them to sell anything because if they try then they are just undercut with another 10-20 new items.
I mean, what would you propose be done to fix this? If someone wants to put a ton of effort into controlling certain items on the market board you really can’t stop them.
Exactly. Unless anyone has proof this person & or groups ability to control the market is anything but honest effort and coordination they need to either move on, try to work with them or coordinate the same level of effort if they want to compete at that level.
You play animal crossing yet? With the turnips? It’s a lot like that. Prices fluctuate and you can choose to invest in the good or not. If the prices are so crazy low, you should be buying them with plans to resell in the future. If you are worried they won’t resell, was the item worth investing so heavily in in the first place?
Point blank, most common furnishings (or anything) shouldn’t cost a lot anyway unless the resources to gather them are hard to obtain (see ingredients exclusive to trials or treasure maps). Especially if said materials are infinitely/quickly available from nodes or mobs.
When I make money via the MB, I don’t even care what my competition is because I will typically just find something that’s popular, make 10 or so to sell then just move on to the next. I don’t have time to keep track of prices when there are so many things available, especially when the mats cost a mere 10-20% of the final item price.
