Nearly all AOE dmg is magical.

Also, indicators for it are quite useless because you shouldn't stand into the aoe fields anyway.

There is also no real need to mitigate aoes in you normal dungeon or alliance raid. Just active it when there is a stackmark or any other aoe.

Just for savage/ ultimates you have to know what kind of dmg the boss does, to plan the mitigation with your group.
