Who are more than capable of doing anything anyone else can.

Hence how Bajsaljen is a medic, and that probably involves not only healing with items but through Aether manipulation. Wearing robes and being a DoM doesn’t have anything to do with a chemist being put in the game. And robes as a deterrent from something being a healer is... well.
Also might just suggest another option too, in that our trainer also includes an invention, maybe even by Cid who is used to working with magic users by now, where like with Machinist or Gunbreaker that generates / charges bullets so too here we have a device that takes our aether and some basic ingredients and creates functional compounds. Might even make the Garlean job teacher jealous that we can so easily create compounds, but he'll still prove the players the student with his vast and nuanced understanding of the field.

I think of "Honey Lemon" from Big Hero 6 in some ways for reference, the one that has the purse that allows her to create from elements on the fly.

It's also technically why I keep suggesting the roomba for the Medic / Chemist job lol. Such that the roomba acts as the chamber that generates the compounds you need XD. Although you could do it through other concepts too, I just think it's cute to think of a floor puppy chasing around the chemist / medic as their baby backpack bud.

As for the job gear, well if you still use some aether to charge your roomba then the robes seem fine, but I personally would find it interesting if SE breaks the mold a bit and says like "that healer will wear aiming gear, dex is their main stat". Would certainly make balancing a bit unique but I don't think it's impossible, though certainly harder than just keeping it all same ol same ol. Also want to see a melee based mage that wears like dragoon armor, just because lol (which is why I sometimes suggest Geoknight, being a bruiser Golbez / Suaron inspired mage, the foil of Red Mage).
