How do I start level 70 Summoner quest?

My Summoner is Level 70. I'm looking directly at Y'Mhitra by the pond with the small waterfall. But she's not offering my the next job quest, An Art for the Living.

Anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Can I not do the level 70 quest until I'm 71, or is there something I'm supposed to do first?

Have you finished the level 68 quest?

Check your Main Scenario icon (top right by default I think? maybe top left) and it should show your next job quest underneath.

I thought I did - I'll double check. There's no job quest under my current main scenario quest.

Somehow I seem to have gone way off the rails with my summoner job quests - it looks like the last one I completed was "A Flare for the Dramatic" way back at level 60. The next one should be "A Book with Bite," but Y'Mhitra's not offering it. And I haven't seen any job quests pop up under my main quest notification, which is why I haven't been doing any.

Now I have no idea where / how to re-acquire the next quest I need to do in the chain and get back on track.

I love this game, but this is an area I wish the devs would shore up. This isn't the first time I've had trouble finding the next quest I'm supposed to do...

Figured it out - it's because I haven't done the MSQ "Far Edge of Fate" yet. So I'm about 10 MSQs away from hitting that, and only then will the next Summoner Job quest pop up - a level 60 quest that will probably be 11 or 12 levels below my current level by that time.

Seems like the issue is - because I'm doing the patches and expansions after the fact, I'm WAY outleveling the gatekeeping. I ran into this on my Dancer as well - I hit a wall in my job progression that couldn't be resolved until probably weeks or months of MSQ progress. So I mothballed her and switched to other classes.

I guess you really do have to focus on the MSQ above all else, and then circle back to do other things...

Not at all, but you may need to share the XP among multiple classes to avoid outleveling content.

In my experience, if you do all available quests, and run only a small number of roulettes, you will get just about enough XP to level up two classes/jobs at once.

Your MSQ guide (the red and beige meteor banner) is a clickable link to the location of the current/next MSQ.
Whenever a new job quest becomes available, it will appear as a clickable link just below that, except for the Lv80 quest.

The job quests for an expansion require the completion of the previous expansion.

Thanks, I'm aware of all that - that wasn't / isn't the issue I was running into. It had to do with the gatekeeping with job quests.

I wouldn't say "not at all," LOL - by the time my level 60 job quest is available, I'll probably be level 73.

It's not that big a deal - I can focus on MSQ for a while. But it was confusing trying to figure out why I couldn't advance in my job.
