    Launcher Script Error "Invalid character"

Hi, I have been trying to log in all day and I keep getting the same error. It's incredibly frustrating.

I launch through Steam, the error says:

    Line: 29

    Char: 397305

    URL: https://launcher.finalfantasyxiv.com...3ef4.bundle.js

I have been pulling my hair out looking for other similar threads, I keep seeing threads about adjusting IE settings but Microsoft Edge doesn't have any of the settings I am meant to change, at least not readily. There's no Tools, Advanced or option that allows me to run scripts with an error.

I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, clean installing, rebooting, resetting.

Please help because I'm about to give up on this game and after a 1000 hours of playtime I would really prefer not to.

Because Edge is not Internet Explorer

Microsoft might want people to use Edge, but Internet Explorer still exists as a completely separate browser (which is also the Windows default browser which in turn is what the Final Fantasy XIV launcher uses).

So don't load Edge, instead actually load Internet Explorer then you'll find the options you're looking for

(and once you delete the Temporary Internet Files in IE (the cache) it'll likely fix your launcher issue)

Good morning and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums

How long have you been experiencing this issue? Additionally, could you try changing the Internet Explorer settings by doing the the following:

Open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
