Question About Stat Distribution When Leveling Arcanist Jobs.

When looking into how Summoner and Scholar level at the same time, I ran across a few mentions of how it may be "optimal" to focus leveling the job you want to play more often instead of switching between both.

Their reasoning was that because they both share Arcanist as their base class, the stats will distribute based on the job that you leveled up with (Summoners will get more Intelligence, Scholars will get more Mind, etc.). If this is the case, leveling as a Scholar for the quick queue times when you want to main Summoner later on will hurt your Summoner DPS a bit compared to focusing on Summoner and getting as much Intelligence as possible as you level. Picking up Scholar after leveling Summoner real high would hurt your healing potential as you don't have as much Mind.

I'm sure the difference is minor but I've been curious for a while now and kind of stopped leveling my Summoner because of it. I've tried searching for more recent info on this but couldn't find anything so I was wondering if anyone here could shed a bit of light on whether this is still the case and/or whether it was true or not in the first place.

Bonus stat points are a thing of the past. At Lv50+, Caster and Healer gear are separated with Intelligence and Mind respectively. So effectively all you need is up to date gear for the role you intend to play at your level, that is all.

Remember to restrict your searches to the past 6 or 12 months whenever searching for information about this or any other MMO. Things change over the years, sometimes within months even, and it sounds like the pages Google showed you were about six years old!

I see! I also did a bit of testing after finally unlocking Scholar and found that your base stats change depending on which Soul Crystal you have equipped. Thanks for clearing that up!

Yeah, I do remember that info being very old, but couldn't find anything on it that was relatively recent. I didn't wanna keep digging through Google pages so I asked here lol.

So ill toss down an answer in case anyone finds this post in a search and wants a more up to date(as of early july 2020) answer then you found. You used to get a small number of stat points to distribute as you wanted to differentiate your character. However, the way the game is designed each class benefits greatly from one or two stats, and gets very little from anything else. Going full hp over all 50 levels granted something like 200 extra hp(in other words, less then 1 extra hit of survival), so the "correct" decision was to go with whatever your damage stat was(any of the other 3 stats your class didnt use would be 100% wasted points). Since this was a false choice, it was removed and the "bonus" stats are now just automatically distributed where they make a difference.

As for the case of Scholar and Summoner these days, the classes share gear(aside from weapon) from 1-49 so they have the stats for both. After that, the gear sets are differentiated so youll be using a healing set on one, and a casting set on the other. If both sets are roughly equal, any difference in your performance will be based on your understanding of the class. So just keep them both in good shape, and you should do fine.
