This is a crazy idea, but why not a character race that just straight up doesn’t do the MSQ. It only has DoL/DoH. No access to glamour.

It has access to all zones it can physically move to with ferries etc allowing transportation.

The only requirement being that to access an expansion, another character on the account will have had to complete the expansion.

I know this is dead on arrival, but I think it would be nice to have an alt that can go anywhere/do some gathering or crafting without needing to unlock a second time, especially if I want to be antisocial for a bit.

Could have some dailies tied into mail delivery (really just “go to this settlement and talk to this NPC”, no story, to get some small cash)

At this point? Some crafted primal weapons for GNB and DNC since they apparently can't be bothered to toss either of them a bone regularly, or even semi regularly. I'm very salty because they didn't add the Suzaku weapons for them with this patch. Or the rest for that matter. I just realized that there was more added that they didn't get. Still salty.

We can dream but they said before that Viera and Hrothgar are the last races to be added to the game. And even if they change their minds they should first address the issues with the last two.

On the topic of the thread - I hope for engine upgrades. If current engine has so many limitations that the character creation can't be expanded, physics of clothes can't be improved and things like capes can't be added then just change the damn engine. Hearing "we can't because limitations" just annoys me at this point.

Personally instead of Hrothgar, they should have added the Lupin instead.

While I like the idea of a wolflike race, Lupins in FF14 look kind of weird, like they took a Hyur body, covered it in fur, and stuck a wolf head on top. If they looked more similar to something like, say, Worgen from WoW, then I would be fine with that. (Full disclosure: My WoW main is a Worgen.)

I kind of actually want to see more of mixed races since Hilda is like that. I wouldn't think it would be that difficult to do really since that would just require new additions to character facial choices (like replacing Hyur ears with Elezen Ears) as a choice or say a Hyur with some Roe traits or a Hyur with Miqote Tails and Cat Eyes.

Besides that, there was a fanfest a long while back where they explained the lore behind children of mixed race. They're very rare. For one, procreation is considered taboo between races. While society doesn't bat an eye at relationships between races, having children is kind of frowned upon. Two, even if a couple does desire children, the chances of it succeeding are pretty slim. There might be complications or other factors that prevent a successful pregnancy. Third, in this universe, it is the mother's physiology that determines the child's appearance, while the father contributes the smaller details. Hilda Ware is a rare case of all three, as in her father's Elezen heritage gave her the notable pointed ears, whereas her mother's Hyuran blood lent her the overall appearance of a Midlander. (BTW, she has a half-brother from her father's side named Muscadain who she has a rather strained relationship with). Arenvald is another rare case, being of Garlean and Hyur descent, a result of an Ala Mhigan woman raped by an imperial soldier. He bears a scar on his forehead from when his mother, convinced he was developing the signature Garlean third eye, assaulted him in an attempt to cut it out. Hence he wears warpaint to hide the scar.
There are other cases of mixed-race children (you can see them in Ul'dah, the Gold Saucer, and in the Ruby Sea, for example), but again, the telltale signs are often not easily noticeable.
But I digress. I actually wouldn't mind seeing something like this implemented in the character creation tool. Would lend a lot of unique qualities to each player character. Not to mention IF they actually added some of the other changes people have mentioned so far in this thread (more specifically the unlinking of horns/scales and manes from Au Ra/Hrothgar faces and body types).

However they want to do it really; though such a request would be a slim chance since it looks like FFXIV is nearing the end (in my opinion, idk).

No, the only thing nearing the end FFXIV-wise is the Ascian/Zodiark-Hydaelyn story arc. 6.0 is said to be the final part of it.

Other than that the implementation of the Geomancer as the final Magical Ranged DPS (Healer doesn't make sense IMO).

I second the Viking Class from Arngrim's post as a DPS; it will be like a alternate Marauder/Warrior Job that isn't tank based.

How about the obscure Green Mage? Hell we got almost of the rainbow at this point that exists in the FFverse; lets throw in the Green Mage to complete the set.

Fairly certain they actually revealed at least one of the upcoming jobs, via the 5.3 dungeon. The final boss of it, to be exact.

A Garliean? They don't have magic so most of our jobs wouldn't work with them, but possibly they could do all the crafting and gathering classes. Possibly be a sort of "rp" character you can be and do quests with and walk around as tied to your main character.

Top choice: A promise to design new features efficiently and comprehensively rather than either getting really smug over roundabout and fundamentally awkward solution (e.g. glamour mirrors as opposed to glamour logs) or half-assing them and expecting that people will love them for all that they could have been rather than their actual implementation (see: most side-content since Diadem).

Second Choice: Glamour log. If they can't come up with an efficient, comprehensive feature of their own, they should at least be able to steal one already well modelled instead of copying its same intent only to do a poor job of implementation.
