    Colors of Aether and Elements/Polarity

I recall ages ago a topic on this subject. Where Green Aether corresponded to Wind like you can see with Cure/Summon I/Aero/etc. and so on for the various elements, as well as I believe for unaspected but polarized aether. But I can't recall where that information came from, which is more what this topic is about. I want to say it predated the lore books, but trying to track down information on the matter hasn't been terribly fruitful, so I thought I'd check here.

From what I recall, the association is drawn from the color of the crystals for each element. Wind crystals are green, therefore wind-aspected aether is green. Rather than being explicitly stated, it is an implicitly drawn conclusion. Of course, I may have forgotten some vital piece of lore.

the white mage heal isnt aspected its just drawn from the elementals or however they were called, The astro is from the stars which again its not really aspected its just drawn from the constelations corresponding to the twelve, the sch one though is completely unaspected its just arcanima and its completely different cause it doesnt draw from anything, something that if i remember whms thought impossible , or more likely a death sentence judging by the conjurer quests i dont remember well.

arcanima is basicly expressing or replicating everything through maths and geometrical symbols, so basicly a circuit and aether is the electricity , which is why by simply having a piece of aether you can learn how the target is and fix them. in the same principle an arcanist can summon only this time instead of replicating the piece missing to mend them you replicate the whole target thus summoning them , the arcanist uses info from gems to summon the carbuncles , while the summoner takes the true essense of primals to summon the egis the same way he would a carbuncle.

The lore of arcanima/summoner/scholar is actually a really good one since most of the stuff are explained. its a coherent and believable story which portrays both the limitation and the strengths of the job ,also its system takes part in many of the cataclysmic events as well as most of the worlds science , its even the art the enemy is using. as much as i love drk story to me the arcanima story is the better and most well written one.

The colors do come from the crystals. so Cyan, Blue, Green, Orange, Red and Purple have associated elements.

The poles also seem to be associated with Black and White if the poster Urianger has of the elements and the first anima step are any indication (though I headcannon an association with Magenta and Yellow to keep things chromatic and because the canon association assumes something that we now know is the opposite case [That being Astral correlating to Light and Umbral to Darkness])

The color association I definitely remember. If it’s just an inference that’s fine, I just felt like there was more to it.

So, I'm bumping this (wasn't even a week old? Man, time feels weird right now) because of Red Mage. Namely, it doesn't really seem to line up with this. It just has three colors. White, Black, and kind of a pinky red. There doesn't even seem to be any difference between things of the same color but different elements, which kind of throws out my theory of it just being astral/umbral aligned things. So I'm not sure what to make of this. White/light aligned stuff and the purply/dark aligned stuff are pretty consistent, and the aether it uses for those looks similar, but not sure what the pink one is honestly, thought it was my Moogle weapon throwing it off but dropped the glamour and it looks the same. From a Doylist standpoint what's going on is pretty obvious, but not sure what the Watsonian answer is.

The red mage casting colours surrounding the orb are white and purple, not white and black. There's a sort of blacklight-esque aure around the purple like how the white cast has a blue-ish cast to it but the main colours are white and purple. The casting colour for their red mage specific magic is a blend of those so it looks pink-ish purple.

You can also see a different blend of colours even more clearly in the aura at your feet. The white magic veraero one is green with hints of yellow. The black magic verthunder one is various shades of purple with some black tones. Verfire is red, and verstone is yellow. The red magic one is a kaleidescope of all of those individually there and easily picked out.

Edit: Also, Vercure is the white-ish blue at your feet. I would posit that your weapon orb is displaying the astral/umbral nature of the cast while the aura at your feet is displaying the specific elemental nature of it.

Oh, yep, you are totally right. And I actually misspoke on it being black, my mind tends to think black and purple are equivalent at this point as one is used as a substitute for the other regularly. Definitely very interesting though. I suppose that means the Red (light purpley pink) magic is magic that is divorced of Umbral or Astral? And the rainbow aura for unaspected/neutral (I'm presuming, I suppose it could be instead all elements) is neat.

Edit: Actually, I said that, but it looks like Summoner's got a different color light, so perhaps it's full on neutral on the Umbral/Astral scale. I guess that would mean Red Mages are instead doing both?
