Sick of ARR Ex fights in mentor roulette

Mentor roulette at the end of the day is there to fill queues that would otherwise take longer to fill, no more, no less. Despite popular belief, it is not a mentor's job to drag new players kicking and screaming to a clear, teach them how to play their job mid instance, nor explain simple concepts like what a stack or spread marker is or "avoid the marked AoE" in endgame content.

You don't want to watch a video or read a text guide because you'd rather do the fight blind? Cool! I'm not going to spend time explaining the fight to you! I'll remind you about party finder and its uses and happily do my job as the class I queued for, but I'm not gonna hold your hand through an entire EX fight. And I will leave if I feel after a few attempts that it's not clearable with the group or if i have something else to do.

That was the best part of mentor roulette, it's a lot of fun helping people and I am still just randomly selecting 5 extremes in duty finder.
I wish that square would remove mentor status and all related achievements/items from every player who starts to whine and ask to be kicked/dc as soon as they notice they did not get a braindead easy duty, insta rage quitting is much better because then I can ask help from real mentors from novice network.

id be fine if they removed the whole mentor thing and instead left the mentor rlt with the astrope and made the novice network just a public chat, its not like it would change anything for me anyways id still explain stuff to new players in ex trials

Hi, I’m a mentor and do roughly 10 mentor roulettes per day and more on a weekend. I’m happy to join a party in progress though that usually means joining groups that are struggling. I main WHM. I have no problem with 95% of the content I do as a mentor and am always willing to explain mechanics, offer help and have even crafted gear for under geared players free of charge. But what I am so so tired of is doing ARR ex mode fights. They come up at least 3 times a day for me and always, always suck my will to live right out. Please dear god people either do these in party finder if you want the challenge or ask your FC to do them unsynched. This is OLD OPTIONAL content. I would rather be helping people through story or even msq roulette than wasting so much time on this crap. *Sigh*

Doesn't matter if its content from ARR that you get queued for in Mentor roulette. It comes with the territory of being a mentor and that's the bottom line. Don't like old content in mentor roulette then stop being a mentor. Don't complain about something that is voluntarily done. No one forced to you to be a mentor. Simple as that.

any public chat is a horrible idea, there are too many people and you cannot even read anything because it will move too fast and helping anyone would be impossible which is the purpose of novice network.

I am honestly shocked that they have chosen to take ex fights into a mentor roulette..fights that often need strategy and good communication (and a certain amount of damage)..I am also not sure why this would be a job for a mentor. A mentor imo is someone that should help newer people with their start into the game which would include the lower dungeons and normal trials. IMO ex trials are something for those that are experienced thus have no need for mentors.

Its one reason why I was never able to even use the roulette. I simply have not done every ex fight and thus I am forbidden from using the roulette.

ARR EX trials and the inability of people doing them through dungeon finder to have any idea of how to spread out, not spread out, move away from asploding things, or pay attention for more than 30 seconds is why I dont bother with mentor roulette.

If you cant grasp "move out of the giant telegraphed line ae" after an attempt or two, you arent worth the time.

This - Like i revently spent 20 min or smt on Odin, it was fun, we progressed... but if ppl literally dont care and dont wanna.. meh...

Id rather have a seperate ex trial roulett then that. But also id kick the Guildheists out of mentor roulett and just raise the roulett bonus for that.


Also being lv 50-60ish is not new anymore, can we please stop pretending reaching for example mid heavensward is new? lol


Edit: Also I do enjoy that roulett usually, as its a mix of everything - imo it should have an unlimited reward as more mentors doing it would fill a lot more ques...

Are mentors supposed to know all ex trials mechanics off the top of their head or something? Imo seems really stupid and silly to have any high-end content in a roulette. I wonder if anyone has ever completed old synced high-end content in duty finder outside of the "High-End" section. You can't get a random DF team to coordinate, learn the fight and also finish it before the timer. Those duties usually take many PF practice runs before they can get completed by the average player, makes no sense at all imo to encourage those instances in DF.

You know you guys are overestimating the arr ex trials, the least clearable one ramuh has like 4 mechanics : tank swap, Fear cleansing ,Adds ,Chains. You can make an arguement that having to pick orbs to lower ramuh dmg is also one but its something that can be done by one person , and wouldnt you know thats an easy requirement to fulfill.

For level 60s sure it has more merit , but heck 2 of them have been powercreeped so hard they are easier than normal (ravanna , bismark) , the rest are problematic if people ignore your help or they are french and you dont have a translator to help you. I have cleared as of now in mentor rlt sophia ex , thordan ex and nidhogg ex. i think i have gotten at least 30-40 commends with how many times ive cleared nidhogg, heck one of them was with no echo.

I have gotten level 70 , susano and lakshimi they are as easy as ravanna and bishmark and the only one that ive been getting consistently is the dumb rathalos fight , which as ive previously said i clear 9 times out of 10 but still is a hellah annoying fight.

So for fucks sake lets not act like new peeps have 3 brain cells cause i swear ive seen more good new players than good expert rlt players. and im gonna throw this in as well i dont think all these ACCESSIBILITY changes is the reason as to why new players are good , i think ACCESSIBILITY changes simply gave more incentive for lazy people to be even more lazy.
