On the flip side, non sprinting monk animation looks extremely derpy.Atleast monk doesn't have the awkward Ninja run- I'd have liked to choose between the way the player holds their weapons while they run - on Thief, player holds daggers differently with 1 blade close to them, tucked almost & the other lower which is good in my opinion BUT then on ninja, they go full naruto mong. An option would have been nice.
I even hate most of the the BRD animations when they attack- the way they hold a bow for one, whoever designed it has never seen someone shoot a bow or hold a bow.
Same with DRK; the way they hold their greatsword- talk about really sore elbows--- Just the stance alone needs a fix, to have the player hold the greatsword by their side as it would be with that kind of weight.
But to add to what you're saying, Monk skills are blah looking from seeing them- some of them are just, forgettable at best. They don't need over-the top animations to look good; you can have something designed well without it being flashy, but it's SE we're talking- all flashy 1st, then quality tweaking much later--- Must like all of the unisex hairstyles, monk animations leave more to be desired.
I would take the NIN edge run over it, and I'm no fan of that either.
I can't wait for them to rework MNK like how they did MCH. They can start by adding more classic FF MNK style moves (like how they gave MCH classic MCH moves like Dril/AA/Bioblaster). Meteo Drive, Dolphin Kick, Phantom Rush, Rising Phoenix, Aura Blast, Somersault, Raging Fists, Asuran Fists, Victory Smite, etc...
Speaking for myself, I don't think the job needs flashy animations for its moves. What we have now is fine. I don't want/need big particle effects making it harder to see the boss's hit ring.
Also I'll say I care a lot more about how the job plays than how pretty/flashy it looks to play. So whatever they're going to do with the rework in 5.4 is much more important than how it looks using the skills one we get there.
MCH rework wasn’t a rework. Removing the ammo system and making its 3 key mechanics far from eachother and dumming down the rotation and wildfire execution was a poor move. Whatever happens to MNK, I hope it doesn’t get trivialized like MCH, as MNK has no stupid robot to distract the masses of how boring and clunky it isI can't wait for them to rework MNK like how they did MCH. They can start by adding more classic FF MNK style moves (like how they gave MCH classic MCH moves like Dril/AA/Bioblaster). As someone that actually likes the new MCH and finds the robot rather forgettable... I disagree.MCH rework wasn’t a rework.
