Chocobo dye suggestion

As a new player and with the housing the way it is, I'm finding it hard to get an opportunity to change the color of my Chocobo even if I had to gil. I very much want a grey one and if you sold Chocobo dyes in the store I would definitely buy one.

It's not cheap for a new player, but aside from joining an fc with a house, your best option is gonna be getting an apartment.

They cost 500k, but they are permanent (no demolition timer) and they have a chocobo stable right outside

I would suggest the same as Stepjam, with added tip that you should use the chocobo color calculator to pick your shade of grey, and make sure you have all your fruits ahead of time.
If someone on your friend's list has a house with a stable you might be able to use their stable too.

Alternatively, you can try and join an FC.
There are always plenty that are looking to help new players.
