I think it encourages ppl to seek repairs from players rather than just go to the repair npc. Scaling it really just defeats the purpose altogether, no one would lf repairs anymore at that point unless they wanted to trade or sell something.

Except I could idle in Ul'dah for hours with my repair flag up and no one will repair them, even a shout doesn't do much for me most of the time. I'm all for scaling repair costs.
My main gripe is not being able to chose which gear needs to repair and someone waste 500 gil and a DM on an item at 86% durability, when there is a 0% I really want repaired.

really? I forgot to turn off my "Repair all" thingy one day.. and throughout the course of the day I went through about a stack of Grade 5... every 5 minutes someone was repairing me...
