My sub in WOW is good till December, my sub here is the same. Mary Jigoku was rolled less than 90 days ago, I have leveled 6 classes to 80, and most of the rest are at 70. My old Main is on Balmung she's stuck at 70, since I haven't played her at all in the new content.

Also, I'm fairly certain I can out Heal and out DPS most, as I spend more time trying to perfect my game than playing around. I've already run 5 Random Duties since I posted my first post on this thread. And by the time I post again, I will have run a few more. Since my goal is to get Ast to 80 today by 11pm.

I don't know that my own mindset has changed much since I started playing way back when. I tend to do a lot of things in the game with friends in my FC. We have fun together. Random people in stuff, it's just random. I usually get pretty good groups though, people who are usually trying their best. I get the odd one every once in a while like "um.. what?" but that really is rather rare for me to see. People used to talk way more though than they do now in random groups. Anymore you are lucky to even get a hello back, which is sad. I try to help new people out, especially if they have questions.

I do agree with King though, the game has been dumbed down over the years where it doesn't matter really if people mess up. There isn't anything really making people learn from mistakes. I miss some of that, like make it matter more again even in the really casual stuff. Not saying make it so people can't clear, but don't make it faceroll where messing up has no consequences.

And I don't know if it's just me, but it seems more people just want things handed to them for showing up. I don't mean old content stuff - I don't mind the old content being easier to get. It's old stuff. I mean like having to take time to grind something out. I don't see a problem with that on some things. It's an MMO, there should be some long term goals. I know I'm probably not being clear, but I would like some more long term goals in the game and not just insta-gratification. There are some, I wouldn't mind more though.

I refuse to play with people who have a difference in Morality, the OP has a toxic Morality, which is bad for any game, it's why World of Warcraft is no longer tolerable.

I disagree with your opinion since there is a level boost, Randoms under level 70. Since many people are boosting white mage and other healing classes apposed to leveling them normally since the game encourages having all classes leveled max for rewards.

So any Random leveling or sub 80 content expect to find new Healers and tanks.

As for Pure Healer, you're going to see more, as WOW is a sinking ship. And ESO and FFXIV are gaining subs during the failing of WOW. Just like when WOD dropped and millions left WOW in 2015 for FFXIV, the same is happening now. Guess what, these new players come from the Pure Healer mentality. So either join a group you trust, or risk playing with people who have not played here since 2014.

BTW, Fresh blood is good for an MMO. So I'm in the camp of acceptance.

Good if personalities clash it's best to avoid where possible, least that is healthy for you.

Your attitude is actually more toxic to the new player than mine is, because you accept bad play, bad play continues, devs have always accounted for the lowest denominator, atm it is so low on healers and tanks veterans are leaving for other things, this is more unhealthy than telling new players you need to start doing things a specific way(dps on healers as the biggest example).

Guess what FFXIV is not WoW, those pure healers have to learn how healers function in FFXIV and that is atm 60-90% DPS with the minority 10-40% being heals. Pure healers work the same way a tank spamming 1 aoe combo works, and neither should be tolerated let alone accepted.

Anyone that accepts people being afk for 60-90% of their time is far far more toxic than someone telling them to put out DoTs, as that person wants them to get better whereas the accepting person let's them stay bad.

I'll happily teach someone new mechanics in dungeons at any level lv15-lv80(usually after 1st wipe or killed boss so people can get blind runs if were attempting that), but I outright refuse to teach someone how to do their job at lv61+ they should know and if boosted learn it before entering duty finder, it is not on the game alone to do this, there are guides to jobs, there are avenues to ask in game, there is a website to look up how it functions, there are forums/reddit/twitter, so so so many avenues for someone to seek help, if they refuse all that for playing their job blind I ain't putting up with it after a certain point.

You don't need to apologize for playing multiple mmos, the issue here is certainly not your (admittedly incredibly cringey and questionable) amount of free time but rather the way you're actively exacerbating the very problem so many have brought up in this thread - the continued casualisation of XIV.

You're defending people who make the game worse by their mere existence. I'm not even talking about the small impact that is getting an ice mage in your Expert roulette, I'm looking at the big picture.

SE sees an opportunity to capitalize on the other sinking ships in the mmo market, making XIV more approachable via tools like skips/jump pots and condensing the 2.0-2.55 grind. It works! We are getting an influx of new players to our sparkly new, very well reviewed expansion.

But these people... they have no idea what they're doing. We can't allow them to find out that they don't know what they're doing, people don't like to find out that they're bad. Let's institute insanely vague and draconian ToS updates that make telling them they're performing at maybe 20% bannable! If you can't dictate a playstyle you can't dictate the correct playstyle after all.

But some of these jobs... they're still hard. They're still potentially single points of failure. Healers and tanks, really. If we get one of these extra awfu- or, unique players on these jobs they might not be able to clear some content. We can definitely dumb down the story content, but better hit everything with the nerf gun just a bit to be safe.

I do dislike it when people put words in my mouth, I am not defending anyone, I am saying hating on newbs is a bad attitude. My first post was pointing out the OP made a blanket incrimination on all players who don't play properly. Which is a troubling point of view, because it's basically aimed at randoms, which includes lower level randoms.

Next you are actually unhappy that new players are moving to FFXIV, be thankful, the MMO market is dying to F2P model games.

This game is still growing, and that's good news. Full servers and still having enough people to play with. If you don't want to deal with newbs, than play with a regular group, it's easy to find good groups here. Hells, I have a great group on Discord, and they are even willing to teach complicated fight mechanics.

I realised that the reports of the FFXIV community being one of the nicest in gaming was a lie.

Its nothing more than a facade; in reality its just like every other gaming community, albeit neutered by a rather strictly enforced ToS that limits what people really want to say.

I hate the fakery. I hate the anti-improvement attitude that is ingrained in the playerbase. I hate the idea that people are seen as villains for simply wanting fair effort from teammates in a cooperative game.

I stopped regularly doing Duty Finder content about 2 months ago. It's not fun anymore. Especially considering how the jobs are now.
