    Job Specific weapons and the future..

    1.22 will give us a big indication of where they are going to take the Job system with the implementation of Job Specific weapons.

    In a nutshell, there is no easy system in place now for equipping a weapon that exclusive to a job. In order to do this currently, a player would have to equip a class weapon, then change to job, and then finally change weapon to the Job exclusive one.

    Thats quite a few steps and not very practical.

    My guess is that they will make it so that equipping a Job-specific weapon will automatically equip the appropriate Soul (hence the recent fix to make job changes server-side)

    If this is the path they end up taking, the system will be open to new Jobs that use new weapons that the base class does not have access to.

    For instance once a player gets GLD, CON, & THM to 30, they could talk to an NPC which would unlock RDM and they would receive their first Rapier and "Soul of the Red Mage". Equipping the Rapier (or any other Rapier, Epee, etc..), would then automatically change the job to RDM, regardless of their class -- If a player is not in possession of the Soul, they could not equip the weapon.

    Other options: [ ACN = Arcanist, and TAM = Tamer, SCT = Scout for these examples]
    • Great Sword > Dark Knight (MRD, THM, ACN )
    • Great Katana > Samurai (LNC, MRD, GLD)
    • Bell > Geomancer (ACN, THM, CNJ)
    • Scimitar > Blue Mage (GLD, ACN, TMR)
    • Fan > Dancer (TAM, SCT, ARC)
    There are a myriad of options, and they don't involve expanding the class system much more.

    In fact, we will have the building blocks for any job in FF history once we get the following classes and their jobs:
    • Arcanist [Class] Arcane Staff, Buff/Debuff spells >> Time Mage [Job] Advanced Buff/Debuff spells
    • Musketeer [Class] Musket, Potion bonuses >> Gambler [Job] Random attacks/buffs, dice, etc...
    • Scout [Class] Daggers, Spike Damage >> Thief [Job] Stealing and Hate Control.
    • Tamer [Class] Whips, tames Pets to fight >> Beastmaster[Job] Tames mounts for battle
    • Evoker [Class] caller's crosier - Summons elemental spirits >> Summoner [Job]- Lesser Avatars - assists/initiates summoning Player Company Primals
