FFXIV disappears/crashes after hitting "Play" button

I'm having a weird issue - everything was working fine last night (I've been playing for several months now). Try to log in this morning and after entering my username/password/security key info, I'm directed to the normal Play button.

However, once clicked, the FFXIV client disappears. No crash report, no error, no nothing.

I figured it was an issue on my end (sound resolution, etc) but everything else (other games, etc) all appear to be running fine.

Anyone else having this issue this morning (4/7/2012 AM CST)?

UPDATE:

It turns out my FFXIV application folder was corrupted. I had a backup copy of my folder on my PC (as well as my laptop). I deleted my existing FFXIV folder and copied the old one in place, then updated. Everything is working as expected now!

Does anyone know of a way to force-check the integrity of your FFXIV folder, or are we just supposed to have a backup just in case, or?
