Autolocking Mages when a friendly spell is cast

As the title says, this post is about the auto-locking feature where when a friendly person casts a beneficial spell on you, you target them. This is a pointless feature, especially in combat. During combat when a monster is defeated and someone heals you, you need to tab or click on the mob even in Enemy mode. Instead of just having to be facing the mob and hitting enter to target and attack it. Who wants to target something you cant attack just because they heal you? Do you want to /bow the mage for doing their job in the middle of combat?

    Agreed. It's useless.

I agree. I never understood what was the point of that and it can be annoying.

It is very easy to eliminate. All you need is additional target cursor for each action (like the one we got for cure, provoke, etc.) and <st> <stpc> <stnpc> tags for macros. 1st offensive action on target should move main target cursor from your mage to that target (unless youre locked). Its like million times better than current retarded targeting modes.

    Now its:
    1. Switching to desired targeting mode
    2. Choosing target (and mistakenly lock on your mage from time to time)
    3. Choosing action

    Should be:
    1. Choosing action (and automatically switching to targeting mode proper for that action)
    2. Chosing target

Same effect but fewer steps and no accidentally mages targeting or targeting mode switching. Plus you can target team members with up/down directional buttons. Of course if youre already locked on desired target and just spamming one action you will need to click twice instead of once. That is why we need auto-attack

@Chory - that's not what the OP is talking about.

Agreed this is one irritating issue indeed. I hate when it happens and it takes me a min to get off person that healed me.

In FFXI, you'll also target a player who is casting a spell on you if you're not targeting anything else at the time.

If FFXIV actually locks you to a friendly target doing the same thing, that would probably be too much. But if it's just targeting, I don't really see the harm in spotting the source of someone casting spells on you. I'm rather used to that already.

This is an annoying little feature, can't remember how I by-passed it in FF11.

SE could pin point the code(s) in the programing, then give a menu option to turn it off.

Would help make it easier to focus on jumping between targets without being forced to the person healing/buffing you.

The only time I use this feature on purpose is when I want other players to turn their heads and look at me while they're crafting :P
