    SMN Class and How I Feel About It.

    {TL;DR There are to many inputs that overload new players and returning players and need to be toned back a bit.}

    I'm trying to come back home to SMN class. I started when 2.0 came out and SMN was my first class, all the way to 4.0...I had to stop playing for some time because of money, and came back at the drop of 5.0 SB. I picked up Dancer to get me back in the game (Not happy with how bad the RNG is, but I can see how good the class can be if worked on a little more). I just want to come back to the first class I ever played. I feel like the class opener and rotation is over complicated. I have no plm putting in the work to learn a class. However, having a 2min opener way before we get to the start of the rotation is over kill for starters and ppl who are returning to their home class. If they are going to nerf the SMN, then they need to tone back how many inputs are needed to do an opener and rotation. I know ppl that have not stop playing the class, and they say it is a bit to overwhelming and complicated. I just want to enjoy the class I first picked up.

    P.S. 3.0 was the golden age for SMN. "Change My Mind".

    ye its ok i understand . i just meant you missed out on something really great. I know the rotation can be overbearing at times , but at some point you get used to it , smn rotation is more like a routine you get through , at some point muscle memory will kick in and youll just go though the notions automaticaly. I dont know if that helps but i hope you ll enjoy the job . i wish you good luck in life as well .

    Summoner is definitely on the more complicated side of things, as not only do you have to be concerned with your rotation, there's a ton of nuance when it comes to understanding how pet AI works. I kind of put the blame on the resources that players have created to teach others the job though. Too many of them go for a top down approach trying to get you to do this or that exact rotation, or perform optimizations that only matter at the 99th percentile, instead of building things up from the bottom with the basics and holistic knowledge.

    That said, I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing for summoner to have a harsher difficulty curve than other jobs. Just look at black mage and how people take pride in it being a job that heavily punishes you for mistakes, not only for the sense of accomplishment it gives, but as justification for the amount of dps they do. There's no reason summoner players shouldn't be taking pride in mastering a difficult job too. Between blm and smn, these two jobs are both at the top of their game now and certainly deserve it.
