Tidbits for future Expacs! What are your wishes?

That the story will stop being so focused on the WoL. I'm tired of being told that I'm the hero; that I'm the only person who can solve Eorzea's problems. Fantasy is at its best when the protagonist isn't special, but rises to the occasion anyway. We've been marked in this game since level 1, and after 5 years, it's become immensely tedious.

Oh, and get rid of the Scions. I don't want them around anymore. I don't need a "special friends" supporting cast that shows up every expansion to lick my boots.

I want to explore new continents on the source world all alone. Even though I do like the twins and shadowbringer has at least made me care a bit about the rest of the scions (as in: they are okay but I dont care if they die) I still wished we could just leave them behind and explore new regions on our own. Maybe even in lands where we are not known and thus can travel a bit without the "WoL" part on it. I also would love to have less stories about war between countries and more personal stories about different people. Heck I am looking forward to more beast tribes because I like those characters a lot more than most of the "human" races.

Character bloat is a problem though and knocking some character out of the game could up the stakes and add more focus to the remaining characters. We got all the Scions bodies totally vulnerable at the moment and nobody's come knocking to try and take them out despite the security being a joke.

I am not a friend of killing a character just to have a bit of tragedy in the story (looks at a certain elezen) especially if the death makes no sense. But I agree a bit with the scions..its so annoying to see the amount of plot armor Ysthola has..you see NPCs that could have been interesting dieing to one sword hit and yet Ysthola somehow survives a direct, harsh blow from Zenos which honestly should have cut her in half..but no she is the darling of FF14 and thus should survive anything..

So FF14 does suffer a bit from either killing of characters for the sake of drama and at the same time keeping characters alive that should be death (looking at a certain samurai here..). Only a few deaths imo are meaningful and great (and make sense)...

A well written and believable redemption arc for Gaius.
One that acknowledges his faults, his mistakes and his sins and builds on his principles to redeem him.
Preferably without the cheesy and overused sacrifice at the end.
He has several redeeming qualities that can be used as motivation for him to be a better man.
Because I really think he could grow into a fantastic and interesting character as long as his past isn't glossed over with a "Yeah well it happened, it was bad and all but let's forget about it and work together, k?".
He already showed more depth and emotion than some other characters, please don't let that potential go to waste. I love a nice "Enemy to ally" story, it makes for a much more interesting dynamic and relationship than people just getting along and having the same goals from the get go. And they could make a whole 2h long cutscene about Estinien and Gaius on missions and I'd probably watch it.

My wish is that they'd update the squadron level and AI, so we could run ALL the dungeons up to 71 with them (since we have Trust system from there on), no matter the class/job you are playing. It would be a ton of fun for me, and the chance to run dungeons that I have only done once (personally, I am not fond of df except for raids and frontlines, and the unfortunately remote possibility of running with 3 friends; while I find pf useful for old Ex mount farms, or helping someone to have a first clear for their msq or their Hildibrand). And if I want to dream on, I'd love to be have the chance to do trials with squadrons and Trusts too.

As for the story, Natsuko Ishikawa has earnt my trust with the whole Shadowbringers and the Dark Knight job story, so I simply wish that they let her go wild and she can surprise and enchant me again

On your first point, I felt it was more about Boobfilia and her band of misfitly sidekicks, followed by a guy who tried to join the Backstreet Boys. The Warrior of Silence was kind of just there being an errand boy when all the full time postal workers were on vacation. Then came Alphinaud and his God complex trying to run things, while pushing the Warrior of Please Spare Me This Misery And Kill Me Now further into the background. When he comes into his own as a man, I thought you know, the Warrior of Background was finally gonna get some screen time, but here comes a wanna-be and very poor example of Michelle Rodriguez, Alisaie.

I get to the esteemed Shadowbringers expansion and supposedly it is all about the Warrior of We're Not Sure Which Time of Day Anymore, and riiight from the very beginning I get turned into the Warrior of Casper and then what else I'd get is the Scions all being mouth pieces and stealing more spotlight, with the failed Backstreet Boy applicant still mourning over Jessica Rabbitfilia. By this time I was getting a little annoyed.

I'm totally on board with getting rid of the Scions.

I may not agree with your opinion, but I love these titles and I'd love to see a cutscene with someone just.... ragging on the WoL and their 'special heroness', no respect at all. It'd probably be Nero, thinking about it. The Exasperation is pure gold. It would be so fun if it was the WoL him/herself, but since they are eternally bound to be the Warrior of Nod Until They Stop Talking... not likely.

Really, you could combine like, five of the above requests and have a World-hopping adventure with Nero. No Scions, unknown territory, an ally that has almost no respect for you.... Fun Abounds! Bonus points if you can tie in/parallel Gaius' redemption arc with Nero's.

More far eastern and middle eastern themed gear and weapons. Also another animalistic humanoid race, preferably fox/kitsune boys and girls. And lastly a shape shifter job who's mechanic is building up gauge then using it to temporarily transform into a powerful beast and perform furious and elegant attacks. Also more kitsune themed stuff in general. And more Carby. Never enough carby imo.

I am not a friend of killing a character when it makes no sense. I'm not fond of bad writing. But we are fighting a war and yet more and more characters are being added with each expansion. There is an overabundance of characters and fake-out deaths at the moment and it's a growing problem.

I can agree with that. As long as a death makes sense then I am fine with it. Honestly they could all just do it without any of that, just bench the scions by having us travel the rest of the world alone. But let us be on our own again. I know the pushed the message that no hero should do this alone (which is funny after so many hours of story where they just send us out all on our own) but its not like we need the scions for that.

I'd like the following things

Visit Meracydia, Thavnair and more of Ivalice/Nagxia preferably without the major scions. Yugiri, Cirina plz. Perhaps we can visit Paglth'an too
A duty where we fight alongside or as Gaius
Zenos to be offed in an undignified manner permanently so a better villain can appear
A short couple of MSQ of quests where the WOL actually gets to take some time off and the other minor scions on the source get some screentime (plus tataru) and we see how they function without us
Market board tweaks to prevent botting and rampant undercutting.
Dragon Wings mount
Armour glams for casters, capes that don't clip my tail and knee length skirts
Job designs to become more diverse, skill ceilings and floors raised, healers back to being combat medics etc
Character creator and lore update. Draconic Au Ra, more expressive Viera ears, non effeminate Elezen...
Some sort of bonding/friends thing we can do with our retainers. Its a thankless job assisting the WOL at all hours, selling things, gathering/murdering/stealing items, hoarding their stuff, forced to act how they demand and wear their uh unique glams...
Solo endgame duties, to test one's skill and get some glam.
