I could care less about profit, just need to clear space and if I can help someone get better gear etc even better. It's a game want to prove how awesome you are do it on wall street, honestly don't need the drama in a game with fake money.
I mean, not to mention how SE absolutely destroyed the foundations of what made crafting advantageous on the MB. They made it easily accessible to everyone and there are many discord servers that spoon feed players by providing macros directly for their stats.
You can still make money via the marketboard but the golden age is over. There is going to be a steady overabundance of supply and lessening demand now that more people are self-sufficient. People don't have to think for themselves anymore when crafting, aren't putting in the same amount of effort as we use to have to and will just toss up their product not caring how it sells as long as it sells.
The healthiest thing is to just put things up at your price and forget about it, if you noticed it hasn't sold in a few days adjust your pricing. Undercutting has always been here to stay.
Players having only 40 space on the marketboard is the problem.
People just want to sell quick and free up space for next items they are farming, and because they dont have it a lot they are going to undercut REALLY HARD.
The fact of SE completely screwing over economy of their game by crafting changes and etc does not help too. Once something new is out its price is only going down as the demand is getting lower and supply is getting higher with more players progressing into the certain spot where the items are crafted and dropped. Its not BDO where devs in this game manages their game economy carefully, making all activities profitable, nope in FFXIV the amount of gil making methods is limited to you either making millions a week or million a month.
FFXIV as the game itself does not handle its economy well, lesser the significance of gil, putting in more and more materials, heavily limiting marketplace for players, and these are results of lvl 80 equipment dropping in price from 1 mil to 50k.

The thing I hate the most is how people who just want to empty their inventory sell on mb instead of just vendoring. That way a lot of stuff is worth on the mb even less than vendor price cause everybody just undercuts. At this point we can just remove the mb, what's the point anyway if making money of what took you time and effort to get is apparently frowned upon?
If the items in question are so easy to get that players just want rid of them and that in turn crashes that entire market to the point of no recovery ...the item is worthless. It's literally junk that a ton of people want to get rid of that has low demand. The thing I hate the most is how people who just want to empty their inventory sell on mb instead of just vendoring. Sadly, thanks to Enix making gathering and crafting a joke, that applies to the greater majority of items in the game now. They're nearly all worthless.
Part of it is botters though. To botters who don't invest time like a human player does, crashing items to a very low price doesn't matter. If the items in question are so easy to get that players just want rid of them and that in turn crashes that entire market to the point of no recovery ...the item is worthless. I agree on the latter.
With the current state of crafting/gathering along with the combination of botters, would recommend people try to make serious gil elsewhere.

Supply and demand
I thought they teach you basic economy of price driven by supply and demand in high school. Why this type of thread keeps pop up?
