Sell them (donate in Doman Enclave) or expert delivery (not for basic weapons) to Grand Company for seals. Store in glamour inventory if they look nice.
If you aren't using them anymore you can safely get rid of them however you like. (Some exception with upgradable gear and relics but that concerns specific quest chains and/or endgame gear)
You also can recycle them, especially white weapons, stuff you get thanks to recycling can be more interesting (Marketboard) than selling the weapon itself.
If you have any Disciples of Hands at lv30, you can also unlock >Desynthesis< and break down unneeded equipments into materials.
Ok thank you !
Depends on the weapon's classification (Blue, Green, White, Pink, etc.), among other factors.
Here are some things I do with outdated weapons. Out of those, none of them is sell them to an NPC. Note* donations to Doman Enclave does not count since I get double the rate.
* Desynth - This is basically the last resort; or rather, the weapon has no value whatsoever outside what is returned via RNG. If I couldn't desynth, or the mats are undesired; then I would donate it to the Doman Enclave.
* Trade for GC seals - Only applies to pinks, greens, and blues.
* Place on the MB - Only applies to whites and certain greens at 0% SB. This is usually what happens with what retainers bring back and mob drops.
* Placed into the glamour dresser - What every weapon the WoL uses desires to be. To be given the honor of glamouring over my ugly arse BiS tome weapon is highly commendable indeed. ^^
Everyone else has pretty much covered it, but one extra useful (or useless) thing you should do before you toss an old weapon is to check the Spiritbond % you have with it. If you have 100% Spiritbond you can Extract a piece of Materia from that item to attach to another piece of equipment. As you're levelling it's likely the extracted materia will be useless before you do get to extract it but even if you just sell it on the Marketboard or just vendor it, it's a few extra gil in your pocket for basically no effort.
Indeed. A problem with this though, is that even for someone like me who progresses at the flow rate of molasses; getting weapons to 100% before it is time to upgrade is a feat rarely met. Gear gets to 100% much faster as most people are leveling multiple jobs within a given role and the gear is shared among them. If this wasn't commonly the case, I definitely would have mentioned it in my previous post.Everyone else has pretty much covered it, but one extra useful (or useless) thing you should do before you toss an old weapon is to check the Spiritbond % you have with it. Warriors are forged in fire. It is the privilege of lesser tanks to light the flame.-
I was grateful to you for sharing your time with me during those very unstable times. I still remember the dazzlingly bright morning sunlight after a long night.-
You can also use unused weapons for retainers, if you have those leveled or are in the process of leveling them.
