Regarding Hard-disk copy and Digital copy

Alright, as you can tell by the Title, i play on PS4 Pro, now my question is the following, knowing about the reveal of the new PS5 digital coming out, i would like to know how much do i have to pay to go from hard(disc) copy to digital, the only game i have on PS4 Pro that is a disc, is FFXIV, can one of you give me a link where i can do the transaction.

You have to delete your game, go to the psn store, download the xiv trial client, then login with your account. It'll re-download everything from there.


At least that's how some friends have done it in the past.

So i have to pay the complete amount ($)? like there is no transaction fee or something like that?

You don't pay anything. If you buy it you'll be forced to make a 2nd service account since you already own the ps4 version. Hence the trial download.

I don't see the XIV trial client on PSN store.

You don't need the trial client. IIRC the game should be in your digital library and you can download from there.

Cost will depend on when you do it. As I recall from the migration from PS3 to PS4, Square was offering to let people move between the platforms for free when the PS4 first came out. I didn't do it at the time because I hadn't bought the new system (no games I wanted yet, so I didn't want to spend the money on it) and by the time I did upgrade my system, that was no longer an option, and I had to purchase the game again.

Yes, you can only have one version installed at a time.

If this is purely in preparation for the PS5 then there's no need to do it yet. But it does mean you'll won't have to use the disc to run it.

You'll need to download the base game and all the patches again, so it'll take a while to install. Don't do it when you want to play soon.
