    The Grand Cosmos.

I am suddenly interested in the dungeon much like I was in Skalla. From what I know the dungeon was a remnant of Voeburt, that is inhabited by a Nu Mou. But there were a few things caught my interest:

    1. the Name: The place doesn't seem to have anythign dowith Space, but I am aware the term "cosmo-" can refer to "everything" so I am curious as to why the place is named as such.
    2. The "cosmo memories" as I dub them: a few rooms were populated by what seems to be shades of the Voebuties, as such I'm wonderin if they are actually specters living out an afterlife in the Cosmos or are closer to the illusion of Aumorot's inhabitants in the Tempest. Considering the current resident is an expert in soulcraft, either seems possible.
    3. The Location: From what I gateher, Il Mehg should had been the location of Voeburt and thus the extent of its former territory, yet the dungeon is accessed from Lakeland, Granted it could be that Voeburt also lay claim to that zone and there are evidence supporting that, but some confirmation would be nice.
    4. The Warg Gear: Like Skalla, I'm interested in what the gear says about the dungeon, but its for a different reason, namey it being Wolf themed- as opposed to a contest winner that the Devs had to contextualize within the dungeon.

The Grand Cosmos was not a part of Voeburt at all but instead Lakeland and the civilization of elves there. Voeburites are drahn and galdjent. Lakeland is elves. The only connection it has to Il Mheg is that a nu mou mage moved in after everyone who lived there died. The shades are probably recreated by them to remember the splendor of the old days before the Flood.

We probably won't learn of any connection of warg gear to the dungeon, if there even is one, until a 3rd encyclopedia comes out.

I see, must had been too hung up on the Ishgard comparisons to overlook the details on the Voeburtites.

Still doesn't explain the choice of name though.

According to the dungeon description on the Lodestone, the palace was so splendid, they named it after the heavens.

Long ago, on the far shore of the Source, a great palace was built by the elves─the Grand Cosmos, an edifice of such magnitude it was said to inspire envy in both the heavens for which it was named and the flowers that pervade its boundless gardens. As with so many wonders of the world that once was, its radiance quickly faded in the wake of the Flood, its halls falling silent, the throne sitting empty. That is, until the palace was given new purpose when a mage claimed it as their sanctuary, their only company being solace, solitude, and the legion of familiars barring entrance to any foolish enough to seek an audience.

Yeah, it's the palace of the Elezen civ that was in Lakeland, the same one that had that big castle on the mount. The elezen that come out of the paintings that you fight are recreations of their best warriors, notably wearing dyed Deepshadow gear, hinting that these Elezens were responsible for the creation of that gear.

The ghosts are the Nu Mou's way of livening up the place, without being actually bothered by real people. In the same way they ensorcel brooms, bring sentience and humanoid shape to plants, and imbue paintings/statues with life.

As for the Warg gear, well, Wargs are an overworld enemy fought in Lakeland. So the sets are their hide, shaped into clothes, so perhaps old trophies from a time when Lakeland was far more rustic. Though, the way Wargs look in game versus how the sets look, don't quite match up, but ehh, close enough for Hydaelyn's work.

The creepy thing about the Warg gear is that it is hinted in a fate that the Wargs are transformed Elves.

Think about that for a second.

I mean, "cosmos" is also a name of a flower...
