    this is also sort of my stance--the devs have made it very clear that there's a soft action limit due to controller support (even after expanding with the WXHB and the secondary toggles).
    with them repeatedly complaining about action limits leading up to ShB and then doing an entire combat rework that kneecapped several classes outright (swathes of AST's entire class quest and card lore are straight up lies now, MCH goes on about skills that don't exist anymore, two of the three healers lost their downtime activity entirely rather than granting the third something, DRK is now just WAR-with-OGCDs) and ruined the leveling experience of many others (every class is on a slow drip-feed, and some don't get a basic toolkit for a damn long time) to try and fit that action limit across 80 levels of a class, i don't see things going well if they don't change something up, since they're gonna have to do yet another gutting/rework to classes across the board to spread the same number of buttons even thinner over 90 levels.

    one potential option is collapsing some skills where appropriate to save space, another might be finding some way to expand the action limit (more sub-bars for XHB or tools to swap between bars more easily?) and so on, but something's gotta change or the annoyances we have now are only gonna get worse, as well as saddling the devs with even more work with having to revamp the combat system every 2 years until the game goes to maintenance mode.

    Consolidating Jump with Mirage Dive would be amazing as a DRG... Not gonna lie. Same with the single target/AoE combos. You just press them in order anyway. I'd rather that and get utility/identity back. 5.0 is atrocious in that regard.

    I did not ask to merge combos into one button, and I know a lot of people dislike the idea of it. I asked to combine things like Ley Lines + Between the Lines or Jump + Mirage Dive into one button. It has been asked for here and there, but I haven't found a more extensive discussion about it yet.

    I mean it still is the same principle, so I'm not surprised the topic would drift into it, or even if there was opposition to mergeing abilities, hell I wouden't be surprised if there were arguments for separating Horoscope Helios, Detonate Wildfire and Stellar Explosion into separate buttons (and having a reasonable or semi-reasonable argument for it like fat-fingering the aforementioned and causing them to to be used too early)

    I wouldn't mind it if t hey merged combos into one button. At least the strictly linear ones, I get why monk for example it wouldn't work because they don't have traditional combos plus perfect balance lets thim hit any of their weaponskills.

    I can kind of see why some people wouldn't like it, but for me hitting 123 in a strict order isn't really any more engaging than 111 to do the same thing when there's really no thought going into what I'm going to press after 1 anyway.

    DRG is in a similar boat iirc since they need both branches for their fancy starter attack

True Thrust/Raiden Thrust -> Vorpal Thrust -> Full Thrust would be one combo button, Disembowel -> Chaos Thrust would be a second combo button and Fang and Claw and Wheeling Thrust would be their own buttons. The rotation would end up something like this: 1-2-2-3-4-1-1-1-4-3 compared to the current 1-2-3-4-5-1-6-7-5-4.

    Nope. You can collapse the true thrust combo into one since raiden thrust replaces true thrust on proc. The collapse disembowel and chaos thrust into one. Then Honestly you could probably get fang & claw and wheeling thrust to their collapsed combos respectively. They're unusable without their procs anyway.

    Not necessarily, just have two buttons. One for the dot combo one for the pure damage combo. PVP combos work the same way even when more than one chain has the same starting ability IIRC. Though I was thinking more jobs like ninja and paladin, I forgot about dragoon's longer combos.
