No one said this was about complexity. This is just about decluttering everyone's hotbars and potentially allowing for each job to have more actions within the same amount of buttons the dev team likes to keep to.They won't do it, because it gives the "hardcore" player the illusion of complexity, which does not exist. Some feel good "i succeeded in this hard to pull of combo". Now that's hilarious. You just press the same buttons, there is nothing to "pull off". without an actual combat system which requires you to do something more than run in circles, there can be no complexity, you can't even call this a combat system.
Having more buttons is actually less complex than condensing combos into one button. When all actions have their own clear function it's easier to grasp your (optimal) rotation. It's why I prefer to have them seperate. If they were to ever combine combos into one button they should imo still make it possible to have them seperate anyway, trough macros or something (without input lag..).They won't do it, because it gives the "hardcore" player the illusion of complexity, which does not exist. RDM rapier action buttons should be into one, it already is in PVP, i dont see why not in PvE,
some of this "merge into 1 button" button is actually available if you play the pvp. so that mean for some reason yoshi decide to make the pve button stay like that for some reason.
maybe for complexity filter i guess, i mean if they merge many of function into 1 button (1-2-3 combo into 1 etc) it probably going to look weird, what kind of mmorpg that you can play with only 1 hotbar (10 buttons) lol
I never claimed it was complex, just some stupid idea people seem to have for some reason.
@OP people have been asking SE to combine buttons for years. Much like blade and soul or even the PvP system. And frankly most the community dislikes the idea and the full rotations and having to learn them is half the fun of the game.
Mine is set up like this(obviously I can't use continuation/fated circle yet but I set it up in advance)
Extended bar (where holding down both trigger buttons brings this up). I call this my CD bar lol.
The part I need my keyboard/number pad for.
I never need to switch sets. I have 6 empty sets that I don't even use for GNB.
So as I understand it, this is mainly an issue for controller users where some players want to never have to switch sets.

I found this: https://xivbars.josebenedicto.com/?job=GNB
Which is handy, if a bit tricky because i use the offset setting, where both sets on the left are the d-pad and both sets on the right are the face buttons, so I had to swap it around for this but anyway, here's my GNB set up:
I have Sprint set to L3, and mounts and tank stances set to another xhotbar.
I also use a 'visual only' regular hotbar to display most things of the expanded bars so I can always see them.

You do exactly the same as me. There’s loads of space and zero need to make the game idiot proof for lazy people who wanna press one button.
There was also zero need for them to re-work tank stances but they did it anyway?
Regardless. I have enough space on my set-ups as a controller user. I just dislike the needless button cluttering and, as mentioned prior, it'd be nice if they were to give us more actions within their general button numbers they like to keep to.
