If a lot of people couldn't get into the game due to how slow the combat is or how little buttons there are at the early levels of a class (and job in regards to Scholar), then we shouldn't encourage people to skip the MSQ, but rather have the early game be entertaining.

This can be done by giving away really good xp boosts like what OP said, or reworking the battle system of the classes and reworking MSQ (they're reworking ARR right now).

I'm leaning towards the latter, as IMO this would potentially be a good way to train future class/job designers. I posted on a thread for how they could do this a while back:

    Let's take Rogue for example:

Rogue will have Kiss of the Wasp back as an active that increases phys damage to 5%. You had to activate it in order to boost dps.
Then later down the line, you'd have a trait that would upgrade it to Kiss of the Viper, which would increase phys damage to 10%.

Once you get to Ninja however, Kiss of the Viper will become a passive Trait, implying that your weapons "are always coated with venom", so you don't have to coat it again and again. The trait would always boost your phys damage to 10%.

This would possibly give a lot more active buttons to the older jobs/classes, improve job identity and lore, and possibly fix combat gameplay at low levels.
The story in 14 is really good, and I'd imagine ARR would be a lot better after the rework, but leveling between MSQs and going through MSQ with a job that has 3 buttons is gonna be turning people off from the game. People paid to play a video game, not read a Visual Novel

It does exist, it just simply exists in a form you aren't happy with. Being unhappy with a feature =/= it doesn't exist at all, full stop. Nor will it likely ever be in that form unless SE is seeing a serious flood of subs leaving the game and/or goes free to play. Neither of which are likely at present.

Besides you can look at it as saving you some sub money as you're simply paying up front for what would have cost you sub money to do the normal way.
Do the MSQ or pay to skip it, the option is there, you no liking it dosen't mean it isn't there.
You aren't saving anything. You are paying more to remove a forced wall plus the sub plus the price of the game. $12(1char sub)+$25(skip)+$55(complete edition)=$87 not including tax which will bring your total to about $94 roughly. Nearly $100 as a new player to get to end game content if that's what you want to do. All you should have to pay is for the game and the sub. How you get to end game shouldn't be a factor.

If the game was free to play I wouldn't even make this a topic. Free to play games only source of revenue is the cash shop and I understand why it would be there. But it isn't. This is a full price game with a subscription model. Cash shops should not even exist in these games. The only reason these games have a cash shop is for greed.

It's not directly saving money, but consider the two routes you can currently take to Lv70:

    1. You subscribe normally and play through all three games and their patch quests. This could well take you two months (=$24 of sub payments) and a considerable chunk of your time besides.

    2. You pay for a story skip ($25) and are instantly at the same point with zero time investment.

If you look at it that way, then the pricing does make sense. Depending on how long it would take you to work through the game normally, a story skip may mean you break even on "money paid by the point you reach Lv70" while saving a large amount of time.

Also for what it's worth, you don't need to factor the $12 sub into your "initial costs" calculation because you'd get the 30 free days with the initial purchase of the game.

Not to mention that the mogsation's profits are apparently the only source of money that entirely goes back into the game. (make of that what you will)

It's not a "wall" its a large part of the game. If I only have interest in fighting endgame monster in Monster Hunter then should they allow me to skip the story and all the monsters that lead up to the Arch-Tempered Master Ranks?
Games are to be played, the beauty of them is there are a lot of them and if one lacks what you want, theirs likely one that has it.
Developers shouldn't have to put a button in their games that lets you bypass the majority of the game, if I come into a game and think "Gee, if only I could skip most of this game, then I-" I stop right there and play something else.

Once again, I have to ask why you think a company has any other job but to make money? They're not a charity. And at least in this case we again know the Mogstation sales 100% directly go back into the game, which is what funds that end game content you keep saying people want to speed towards.

What are you even talking about with this? The items in the cash shop would not have been developed if the cash shop didn't exist. They were specifically made (often by specific teams/outsourcing) to be sold. Nothing is lost in development of the main game by these items existing, and if anything, certain things in game have been improved/added due to the cash shop. (I believe housing districts were quoted as being expanded in the past from cash shop funds)

It’s not like other MMOs where you can RMT for in game currency. The only thing in there I am even mildly against is the level jump/story skip items...but hey, those exist for people exactly like you. Even then all those do is save you time.

I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO ACTUALLY PLAY GAMES I BUY. I WANT TO JUST START A GAME AND HAVE IT SAY "YOU WIN" AFTER 5 SECONDS...ACTUALLY MAKE THAT AFTER 1 SECOND.
