I wish I was smart enough to say what you said. T.T Because it's freaking true. It WOULD be nothing but the MSQ dungeon all over again. Then ALL the dungeons would have unskipables if they went down this route. Thank god they don't.Funny how these suggestions only ever come from zealots of other games, who always want to turn this game into "Final (MMO of their choice)" or "(MMO of their choice) Fantasy".
You know why they don't make available to you higher skills on lower level dungeons, Einstein?
Because they'd either have to nerf your skills so much that a lvl 20 BLM's Fire II would deal more damage than a LVL 80 synced down BLM's and by the time you got to use Flare, the mobs would already be dead;
OR
They keep skills as they are (which is usually what other MMO zealots want, because they're used to rote repetition and just mowing down content by the dozens systematically) and make lower level new player's experience lousy because the higher level ones would just raze everything in their path nonstop till the end of the dungeon with their higher level skills, to which the dungeon wasn't balanced torwards. I mean, this already happens on Castrum and Praetorium, just with outgearing the dungeons. Imagine people having their lvl 80 skills there;
OR
They have to balance every dungeon in the game to accommodate this, and they'll have to repeat it all over again every time a new expansion comes out. And you can kiss goodbye on new content for upwards of a year.
Zealots of other MMOs never seem to learn that you can't fit a square in a round peg, but they do always seem to try their hardest to fit some other MMO's system into an incompatible gear and battle system.

There is an option, you just don't like it and while there is of course more to the game than the MSQ it makes up a large bulk of this game, if you or your friends are are happy to skip all that and get to running the same 2 dungeons, same one alliance raid and the same 5 trial fights endlessly for the next few months then again, good news there is an option for that.I see zealots defending the game
I agree with OP, the game is too slow
About MSQ is one of most chores ever, to get to play with friends
Not long ago one of my friends started the game, to play with me/us. And guess what, she hates it, for going A to B to A for days, Ton of fillers.
My experience with Game is the same, if not people saying game gets better, I would quit.
There is no short way to Play with friends
The game has much more to offer than MSQ
Ofc Fan Lovers will simply tell " This game is not for You. You can play something else, Have Fun o/ " - Passive Aggressive forum answers, which I seen for years
About jobs and dungeons:
- 1-2 combo and lack of skills, makes
game boring early on ( You can argue that at lvl 50 it gets better, but it's not, many jobs and not functionally with core skills at max lvl, and SE cutting skills, pulling them more and more on longer gaps from expansion to expansion is not fun )
- we could have in dungeons skills we got before, so dungeons at DutyLeveling and others for many people would be less boring and faster, thus easier to level up, caring new people on the way
- why not allowing more skills in duty roulette? - the answer is - coz zealots leveled their jobs by hard way - and those people will brag about it, and hate on new people, " back in my days X and Y was harder and now is joke, no need for
changes "
As for dungeons I agree it can be a little dull at lower levels but it's sadly just the way this game was designed it would take a lot of work to redesign the game to let us use more skills at lower levels when synced down.
If however you're talking about us simply getting more skills earlier on our first time, then I find that ironic as the devs prefer to use the leveling to slowly introduce skills and layer their play styles and focus more on how the jobs play at the end, the only place you and the OP seem to care about.

There are literally 2 items in the mogatation shop that allow you to be level 70 and start at the most current expansion. If you can’t be arsed to do the most recent expansion, what is it you’re trying to get out of the game?
There's ways for FFXIV to be improved without losing its core appeal - there's no need for the MSQ to lose its relevance. It's not a coincidence that World of Warcraft began to decline in relevance and popularity around the same time that it began to put less and less effort into telling a consistent and interesting story. I don't want FFXIV to go down the same path - and if it ever did, then I'd take my leave of it.
When did WoW ever tell a consistent and interesting story? All it did was ride the coattails of the RTS game stories and it's when they had to come up with new stories that things started going bad. But that's a topic for WoW's own forums, not these.There's ways for FFXIV to be improved without losing its core appeal - there's no need for the MSQ to lose its relevance. Relevance is subjective in the long run, changing for each person based on their personal desires and goals. The MSQ will remain relevant to the game. even if some players would prefer to skip it. No one is going to have a different experience in their weekly Eden kill just because someone else in the group didn't play through the MSQ.
But it's a RPG. Role playing game. You need some story to give meaning to the role, why it exists and why what you do in that role is important. I can't think any of RPG I've played over the years that didn't have some basic underlying story you were following as you progressed through the game. Even ARPGs like Diablo have their story that is told as you run around killing mobs and picking up loot. You can ignore those stories as they happen but you don't get to skip them. You don't get to play through the end game zones unless you have completed the preceding zones first.
That's what we're being asked to do here. Play through the zones to unlock the content in later zones. If someone really can't stand doing that but insist on playing the game, they can pay to skip the first 85% so they can be in the later zones faster.
People really should play games as they're designed to be played. Trying to play any role playing game as if it's nothing more than a loot pinata is never going to be satisfying in the long run because the game isn't about the loot, it's about playing a role in a story.
So I just started the game after mulling it over for awhile and seeing how feasible it would be with small children, and it's been great. I played FFXI Online from its startup in 2003 for about 10 years and the opening levels and quests in this game fly compared to sitting around waiting for a party all day just to have one fall apart 15 min in and sit at level a low level for each job for days. I'm nowhere near endgame in this but the prospect of not having to sit around for 3 hours to wait for HNM pops is something to look forward too.
So maybe my short-lived experience has me thinking things are better than they are, but I have minimal play time and I don't think the grind in this game has been anything terrible. Compared to trying to kill Tiamat, with two alliances for the first time years ago, this is cake ! Shit even the first few forays into killing the Sky and Sea gods were a nightmare compared to this, and those story lines were amazing.
ARR is basically a huge boost now you can get to Lv50 without grinding.I think it's about time we started getting exp boost and ways to skip the story in the game. Not to sound like a broken record or anything but, in WoW I can level to max in like 4 hours. Less if I really focus. It's not like it isn't there for a reason. It's like that so people don't spend all their time doing old content and so that they can catch up to current content. FFXIV isn't getting shorter and this is starting to become an issue. I'm not saying get rid of the story. I'm just saying why not give people the option to skip it if they don't want to do it and just want the new content? If it isn't right now, it will be daunting and very inconvenient for new players to start the game and catch up. I would like my friends to come play this game because it is fun. But, they don't have the time to invest into a story like that without feeling like they aren't getting anything done.
Just my opinion. Love Kair. <3
Edit: "Just buy a story skip" isn't an argument. New people aren't going to just drop $60 on a game to catch up to current content when they just paid $60 for the game. $120 just to play current content? Nah.
Leveling is already a massive joke and the exp boosts just make the game feel poorly balanced, fighting titan at lv 44 or having a mish mash of skills from 60+ but not 50+ cuz of the areas and job quests are locked making progression bizzare and incomplete. example being as SMN i had acess to Aetherpact and Ruin 4 before deathflare and tri disaster due to being overleveled.

Where is the ambition?

Wouldn't have minded it if the armory bonus increased by like 20% for every additional job you got at max.
