    Is there a good guide for crafting available?

    When I was starting on the Master Recipes 8 I suddenly understood I knew absolutely nothing about crafting. I have all the DoH's at lvl 80, with BiS, but still I failed miserably at my first try on Neo-Ishgardian Sword. So, in stead of wasting more valuable material I thought I should find a good guide. Problem is, the only ones I find are about macros, or too short to be worth anything. I was hoping for something like a 30 minutes guide, really explaining crafting, when to use the different abilities etc.

    I could probly sit here for the next hourish and bang out a reasonable version of a guide, but i really dont have that kinda energy today. If you really want to understand crafting, the gold standard has always been Caimie's guide(search the DoH forum, im sure youll find a link). You could also just spend some time playing with the system and try to get a feel for it yourself. Grab some "apprentice's practice materials" from one of the vendors that sell them(300 gil in eulmore crystarium or firmament), then try the practice recipes(artisans durable/fragile practice materials). While you dont get a useful item in the process, only spending 300 gil(and a couple crystals) for a full practice is certainly better then gathering the materials for a real craft and hoping you dont mess up.

    I'll check it out, after I get tired of gathering. Suddenly found out there's a huge demand for ordinary lvl 70-80 stuff I can get without timer (wouldn't surprise me if it's more money in gathering than crafting).

    Here you go https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...h.ecvgk13a0ftg

    Use Storms rotation for Neo-Ish gear, you'll need HQ BB food. That rotation will get you 100/100 with no HQ mats needed.

    Dont' worry about practice materials and 'hoping'
    You can pre test any rotation using Teamcraft - https://ffxivteamcraft.com/simulator

    Plug in your stats (I don't bother using the specialist toggle - just use your raw stats), the item you want to craft (all 3 star 70 durability are the same) and enter your rotation to see if it clears. That will give you a good metric and understanding.

    Best gear for me on that rotation is All Facet gear with Materia to get the Craftsmanship and CP. Once you have the proper amount of those stats, then Control as needed (but it's not super important to meld)

    I am able to get 100/99 with all Facet and I throw in 1 HQ Aethersand and it's 100% everytime.

    That comes out completely wrong, not even close to what I get with Zane's guide (Rank VIII Artisan's Durable Practice Materials). According to the simulator I will fail miserably, but with Zane's guide, even if I'm below on Control, I manage 90'ish quality (depending on conditions). I'm not even going to touch the real thing before I understand this stuff better. My stats, un-buffed are Craftsmanship 2449, Control 2318, CP 522 with blue 470 gear and all other items overmelded to max with CP and Control. I use Cunning Craftsman's Syrup and Mejillones al Ajillo to get the necessary CP and Craftsmanship. I would have preferred Commanding Craftsman's Syrup, for the higher Control, but then I'll be lacking in CP.

    You don't need higher control at 2318. You need a minimum Craftmanship of 2480 after buff and 605 CP after buff. If you do not have those stats then the rotation will fail. Teamcraft is 100% exact, there is no doubting that. You are wasting GIL with practice materials. If you need help in understanding how to use Teamcraft I can help you with that;

    Here is absolute proof it works; https://ffxivteamcraft.com/simulator...0&food=27876,1

    There are other ways to get there as well, but this is what works for me as an OMNIcrafter I use all Facet gear melded to the stats I need. Other guides can work, it's all about your stats in the endgame

    The best guide is doing. Read through your skills, understand what each does, and then just play around in TC with different things. You can learn more about crafting spending 30 minutes trying to optimize a craft for your stats in TC than days spent in-game. Once you've tried a bunch of things, look at some good public rotations for hard recipes. Notice patterns you see, setup/finishers, how buffs are used, etc. Then try going back and improving yours. Consider the differences you see in low stat rotations and high stat rotations, where having more stats/CP lets you cut out many steps. You can also try things you'd normally craft like scrip collectables. Since they're so easy to 0-100, just throw up a very meh rotation and then try optimizing it down to as few steps as possible. This will teach you how trade-offs happen when people come up with these rotations. They're almost always done by starting with a very simple approach and then optimizing it for different stat levels or with a target in mind (like fitting in 1 macro).

    If you want to follow an easy route, you can find meld sets and good rotations at places like The Balance, where the meld sets are intentionally designed to be cheap, hit minimums, and still easily be able to do the hardest crafts available. I wouldn't recommend using Zane or Ashe guides as their rotations are typically poor and melds are not well thought out. Neither of them uses tooling like TC to optimize like theorycrafters will, and you can easily get better at crafting than they are with practice.

    Regardless how or what craft rotation you use, my main point was to show that Teamcraft works without question as it follows the in-game Algorithm
