Game is still crashing randomly with no error message

Hi all, I hope someone can help me with this.

For a few weeks now the game client has been randomly crashing to the desktop with no error message, sound or (seeming) reason. Game one momment and then desktop the next. The time this takes from starting the game can take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours.

I posted about this issue before and thought it was fixed after I tried rebooting my computer with no start up process's as the problem didn't resurface for a little while but now it is back.
I allso tried the second suggestion I got to reinstall the game but that hasn't fixed the problem either.
I have checked if any Windows or driver updates are needed but as far as I can tell evrething is up to date.

I beleive I could however I don't have nearlly as much space on my C drive as on my D drive, is there no other way to fix this issue?

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

We would like to recommend performing a Clean Boot on the desktop to see if the crashing continues. This will prevent any programs from starting up when the starting when the computer first boots up. This can end up having adverse effects on the game when these programs are running in the background. To perform a clean boot for Windows 10: Open the task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

As I said in the original post I have all ready tried a clean boot and unfortuently it hasn't helped

Is there any other solution to this? Surely it can't just be that the game isn't installed on my C drive as it was installed on my D drive for months without issue before.

Your install drive definitely should not make a difference. I've been having the same issue and my game is on C:\ anyhow.

I'm sure it makes no differences, on which drive the game has been installed. I had the game installed on a second SSD, before the crashes started last week. On the weekend, I have tried a clean installation on C drive and the crashes are still existing. As mentioned in other threads, running Final Fantasy with DX9 is the only fix for me at the moment.

i too am having same issue and im a new player only installed game around 6-7days ago would also like a fix as its happening while in cutscences and Dungeons(not specific to just there but thats where its most annoying when it does happen)



directx9 hasnt crashed yet
thats absurd that i got a decent computer and cannot use dx11 when i can even use dx12
