    The JP button

    Now that we're discussing the inconvenience of the NA maintenance time, I wanted to bring up an issue thats been really bothering me.

    I haven't played FF11 but people have told me that the same issue ocurred there as well..


    Anyways,
    If anyone has ever done gathering / crafting next to a JP player, try and notice that they speed through their synths and gathers much faster than the rest of us. (due to latency)

    Also if anyone has been doing CC or AV. While it is definitely possible for us to do speed runs, it's much much easier for JP's because the previous stated above issue carries over to combat as well.

    These AV videos sort of show how ridiculous the cumulative advantages add up to. I haven't seen a NA video showing 16 minute AV yet so maybe I'm wrong in this. But definitely because JP's can craft and gather faster, they have better gear, more materia, more double and triple melds etc etc.


    While I'm sure this will eventually be fixed in 2.0, I think we should get some sort of a temporary solution right now. Maybe even a handicap to make up for all of the latency for all NON-jp players.


    Thoughts?


    *If you don't know what Im talking about, next time try and find a jp player and craft/gather next to them and you'll see what I mean, no matter how fast you push the button you can't catch up to them.

    **pay attention to how much faster they go through their combo cycles.

    i understand what your talking about, though, many of the japanese have the same problems, so being japanese is not it (yeah, i tried what you said, i was speedier than him actually, i was turbocrafting using my controller. Maybe they do so too?)

    For those that play from Japan:-

    As I have said 100 times, you are confusing server latency with network latency, regardless of the amount of lag you get in Japan you can bet people in the US and EU are having the same lag + network latency to deal with.

    If I'm standing next to another miner and we are hitting the sweat spot perfectly and hes in Japan, I can gaurentee you that he will finish up on the node long before I do.

    This is an example of how accumulative the latency is.

    I'll make it simple
    a JP player has 18 ms latency so multiply that over 8 mining attempts = 144 ms
    I'm in EU and my latency to SE server is roughly 300ms multiply that by 8 = 2400 ms.
    Average for a US payer is something like 170 ms multiple that by 8 = 1360 ms

    It means that a JP player has finished mining 2.2 seconds before me (although in my experience its actually much more than this), add this to what the OP is saying that ever battle action is taking longer due to accumulative latency and JP players do in fact have the advantage in dungeons..

    Whether that matters is besides the point really the fact is that it makes a difference, and most certainly will when PvP is added.

    I tried that and was getting beaten out. You can't input anything until the server gives you permission to do so.

    At the moment you can't queue something waiting to get back to you, it's faded. This works two ways, though, there and back, so you're waiting on more than just the server.

    Taei... Unless SE stops being so strict I really don't think there's much that can be done about all this. Everything is so server-side as a cheating countermeasure and very few improvements can be made without making things function client-side.

    Available HP/MP/TP to cover action costs, evades/blocks/parries/misses to perform special actions, actions landed and from proper positions to enable combos and void TP costs, lack of ailments that would prevent actions from being performed, animations and their locks being managed by the server after everything checks out, etc. They all add up, and it results in many Japanese being falsely lauded as skilled players. And that's just the combat aspect!

    I believe there was mention of regional servers, and if that happens it will help with these latency issues. I sure don't plan on opting into that, though, if it's irreversible. Like I told you earlier, I actually wish to live in Japan someday.

    Therefore, since those moderators are always combing over the forums, please note this: If regional servers come out I would like to be able to perform transfers between them at any given time. Thanks!
