Because right now, it's 7am in Tokyo. STUPID-MAD HOURS, BRO!
They could easily do updates per region, too. Bring down the US servers before or after primetime (or in the AM), then do the EU servers, then do the JP servers. From what I've noticed, most other games with international servers do it like that. Looking at the time differences, the only difficulty would be the EU servers, I suppose, but then I've seen them taken down with US servers as well.
I'm going to assume there's -some- staff who are there overnight to at least call the people who bring down/up servers in case of an emergency or moderate to some extent. It's not too out of line, considering the game/servers and all the other hardware runs 24/7.

I don't understand how would you be able to bring down global servers by region. They could easily do updates per region, too. Right and that's normal work hours you dumb ass, what time do you propose they do their work so everyone is happy, oh you know what? There is no time. Simple fact is maint's gonna happen and its gonna stop you from playing for a few hours get over it. also you can't do updates by region when its global game your pretty smart there bro!Because right now, it's 7am in Tokyo. Humm, your loss my gain. All maintenance a are done when I'm at work. Me happy! Dances and spin like a crazy pigeon.are you sure? how many patches or hotfixes have been done during jp prime time in the year and a half the game has been out? i'm not a eu player so they come back up close to my prime time, but i can see their point in the fact every single one has been done within their time.
would it be so bad to rotate the times on when they are performed? at least the eu players wouldn't feel like the black sheep that are targeted for every down time.

not sure how you get my loss. read this sentence please. it is in the very post you quoted.
"i'm not a eu player so they come back up close to my prime time, but i can see their point".
if it needs to be broken down i can do that. my playtime is not affected most times since they are up during my prime time, but i can understand the view of the people in the eu time zone it does affect.

Um...I don't think we are here to talk sense Bayohne lol but ty anyway.Greetings,
Unfortunately, there are always going to be times when maintenance will impact some regions more than others when running on a global scale. Maintenance is never targeted to disrupt the play of one region over another, so please don't think that it is.
As for the length of the maintenance, while a hotfix is being deployed with the maintenance, there are more critical things that are being addressed at the same time. Please take a look at the update notes here:
That said, I know that it can be frustrating when you want to play and there is maintenance, and we work to ensure to minimize it, but these updates and changes are important. Thank you for understanding in this matter.
Can I give Yoshi and his team a list of my days off work so he can STOP DOIN MAINTS ON THEM!!! whatda think?

What goes on in the forums stays in the forums.
Bayohne,
It's not the time more or less of the update but someone there knew exactly when this patch would be implemented and you can't even give us a heads up. Sometimes I wonder about SE but you think you will say "Thank you for understanding in this matter." We don't understand what we do understand is that SE can't even tell us when each patch will be and please don't tell us someone decided at the last second and said hey let's do it NOW.
All we ask is to let us know even if it's 24 hour notice but let us know but it seems to be to much to ask for.

Right...cause maintenance isn't almost always at the exact same time lol. Funny how we never see maintenance during jp prime time..ever.

I would talk to the devs about rotating maintanance times, because they are always in EU primetime, sometimes right through it, you could do it so for example 2.21b is during NA primetime, 1.22 in EU primetime, 1.22a in JP primetime, 1.22b in NA primetime etc etc, and keep rotating them like that, the only time I have seen JP players get disrupted by major mantanance is the server merge.
I do know you don't intend to only affect EU players (and about 1hr of NA primetime) and the goal is to inconvinance as few customers as possible, but in a worldwide game it would be better for everyone to have rotate maintanance times, that way no one can say SE is being unfair to EU players.
