Curious Question to Silent CTD/dx11 crash Folks

......are any of you guys streaming or broadcasting gameplay in any way?

I've been noticing that anytime I run OBS in a given session (even if I don't have it running while playing XIV), I get crashes.

But I've gone multiple several hour long sessions after a clean reboot of the PC with no OBS, no broadcasting of any sort, and no crash.

Several days ago, I started OBS up to stream another game, only had it on briefly, stopped, closed OBS and logged onto XIV and got a silent CTD like 10 seconds after loading up. So I rebooted the game, got another silent CTD again, within 60 seconds.

I gave up that night, went to work, got home in the morning, performed another clean boot of the PC, and I haven't had a crash since.

To perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10: Hold the Shift Key when you click "Shut Down". Once your computer shuts down, either turn the surge protector/UPS unit off, or, your computer's PSU switch off to totally cut power to your PC for at least 10-20 seconds, and then turn it back on, and boot the computer back up.

This fully clears anything that might be hanging out in the computer's RAM that could be left over as Windows 10 does not fully shut down by default, it uses a hybrid hibernate function instead and if anything like a broadcaster software screwed with your GPU drivers, this stuff could still be present even if you shut your computer down and turn it off.

Just something to try.

EDIT: Also I've been seeing a lot of NVIDIA GPU cards in these sys info dumps... are any of you people on ATI cards? Also, have you guys tried disabling all the overlays in Steam and Discord?

Nope, no overlays, no recording software, or anything like that (this includes disabling Game Bar).

By the looks of it, there's no obvious reason why this is occurring but, I would like to have some sort of log or at least an error to trouble-shoot the issue.

Another minor gripe is, we know plenty of people are able to use OBS, overlays, ReShade, and all these other custom settings without issue. While that software may interact with their hardware in a different manner, I don't think it's the root cause of this issue.

So, brief data point: I had no crashes whatsoever when using the Windows Malware Defender (Windows 10, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti) alongside ReShade and the Discord overlay. When I swapped to using Bitdefender, the Discord overlay no longer would appear, and I started getting DX11 silent crashes. When I went and exempted both ffxiv_dx11.exe and the %appdata%\Discord directory from Bitdefender's Online Threat Defense logic, the Discord overlay came back and the issue went away.

I doubt that's the solution for absolutely everyone, but it's a data point I felt worth sharing.

Meanwhile, on my end, I switched to DX9.0c and I've not had a crash yet.

The only noticeable difference is the small inventory window with the 4 tabs which is annoying, but I can live with that. Better that, than crash crash crash.

Certain areas would not load properly with D9 (A. Anyder as an example), but I rarely crashed. After switching back to D11 I've crashed every day (Sirensong Sea 2x on the 2nd boss).

What do you mean by "not load properly"? the intro cutscene? Or you can't actually physically get into the dungeon?

I don't think I've gotten Anyder since I changed to DX9 ... you can still walk around and everything, it just doesn't show, right? Just looks like you're on an invisible floor?
