I agree with the OP. If this were just a temporary Band-Aid for the Ul'dah inn being down I wouldn’t mind.

Otherwise it just seems... I don’t know. Why not go whole hog and give us free tele to all 3 cities? Why not just give free tele to everywhere. Why not just let us choose the zone name and enter x,y coords and we just warp anywhere…

Why design an overworld, lets just gather together in one city and tele to instances and only ever see 8 people at a time... That’s not the game I signed up for.
There are 25 crystals that one can set their homepoint to. You can return to one of two, out of those 25, every 15 minutes. No matter what the system is, people will always find ways to abuse or get around it. However, this doesn't mean that the entire community should be damned just because a few people can go between two cities every 15 minutes.

Anima cost for every single other point in the entire game is still in effect. We now have events in areas far enough off that teleporting, even with anima cost, is still viable. We also have the choice of foregoing anima use and using Chocobos and Airships. I guarantee even with these two homepoint options, people will still run out of anima.

The overworld will still be used, extensively. The sky is not falling, the world is not coming to an end just because we have one additional return point. It's really not that big of a deal. You know what's going to happen? I'm going to set one homepoint at my Inn for when I log out for the night and the other as I normally would.

Maybe with the proper usage this will finally let me do gathering leves in places other than Ul'dah without the constant reminder that running from LL to Iron Lake or Grid to Treespeak is way more time consuming than Ul'dah to Halatali, and that little sidebar that if I were to use anima it would take me 32 hours worth for every 12 hours of leve allowance

ITT: Time spent traveling directly correlates to game difficulty.

Well ya it does correlate to difficulty, mental difficulty. If you spent the time riding somewhere, you will be kinda mentally fatigued when you do the fight, thus being less effective during the fight.

Also the faster you can travel places the faster you can get stuff, thus making it easier to get better stuff, thus making the game easier because you had to spend x time getting somewhere. If we didn't have teleports or what have you, non of you would have all classes 50 but only a few.

    I am 100% serious my friend. http://www.leisureauto.com/bbx/426387-426898.html

Doing something will cause boredom which in return causes mental fatigue which in return doesn't let you function at full potential.

Also, I know lots of you wouldn't be motivated to choco/walk all the way out to an area everyday to level, but only on occasions, so, therefor lots of you people with lots of 50s wouldn't have those 50s(some would most wouldn't). Also lets not forget ifrit weapons, less people would have full ifrit weapons if we had to walk to GRID everytime we won, also we wouldn't have beat it soo soon as well because of less times of trying.

So yes, traveling is a challenge of its own.

How will this attract more people to the game?

What I find ridiculous is not so much the argument that traveling for an extended period of time leads to mental fatigue, but rather that you would advocate that as a viable form of challenge in a VIDEO GAME.

    Tedium =/= Challenge.

I would consider it a challenge. Would you consider driving 400miles a challenge? Yes you would. It's the same thing. Traveling.

The game in this current state is a timesink in travel. The current zones are huge, empty, and have no value. Just cut and pasted with random lvl mobs in random places. Ppl want content, period. The boat failed because of zero content, not Anima. Besides fishing and crafting what is there to do? AFK or use another means of travel to get to the content (Anima/Chocobo).

Regarding Ifrit. Regardless of restriction to travel, ppl will still beat him for the glory of being one of the 1st in a timely manner. Strats will be posted shortly after and ppl will follow.

Ifrit weapons are currently restricted regardless. Why? Drop rate and the inability to pass weapons. Most ppl with all Ifrit weapons have beaten him 100+ times. It's based on some pure luck but mostly repetition, period.

Your petition is very self centered towards your personal preference that is still an option to do ingame. Therefore, limiting others from choice based on their "freetime" and real life.

Until 2.0 is launched with all the restructuring you're just restricting a pay to play game even further in it's unfinished state. That I feel is why THIS Dev Team is giving THIS option.
