I'm afraid I don't understand your post. Are you saying that walking from Ul'Dah to Gridania is necessary? Do you do it every single time you want to go between the cities?

Maybe the initial should be done that way, but do you argue that every other attempt must be done the same way, sans chocobo?

The travel should be necessary. An airship shouldn't be instant, teleporting should have more repercussions because there is an Airship. I shouldn't beable to just return there do some stuff and return back to uldah with no repercussions.
