    The Calling

So I've gotten to the begining of Shadowbringers and I was wondering the answer to a question that hasn't been asked.

Why wasn't Lyse affected by the Calling.
I understand she renounced her involvement with the Scions but there was no way for Crystal Exarch to know that information.
I speculate it was to serve as a reminder she's no longer a scion but it struck me as odd to not include her in that.

If this gets answered later on in the story then please let me know it's answered later on. I'm not looking to be spoiled but none of my friends who've completed Shadowbringers know this answer. So I've come to you.

Who knows, maybe I'm overthinking it, or maybe there's a deeper reason we've yet to discover...

Most likely, the Exarch was looking specifically for the Scions, and since Lyse wasn't one anymore, she was left out. (One assumes that Tataru and F'lhamin were left out because he was looking for fighters and they're noncombatants, and Krile and all of the minor Scions like Hoary Boulder, Coltenet, or Arenvald just weren't important enough to remember.) I don't know how much more can be gone into without spoilers.

But there was no way for the Crystal Exarch to know Lyse wasn't a Scion.
She should have been pinged in the first cutscene.
She is also someone the Warrior of Light is close to.
    It doesn't make sense.

The only other thing I can think of is the Crystal Exarch may have been looking for Yda who is dead, since that's who Lyse was masquerading as, but that's the only other reasonable explanation I can come up with.

Still it's odd. So I'm asking questions.

The Exarch's call tended to target people who were near us at the time he was aiming for. I just assumed it was because (thanks to the writers' own priorities) Lyse just happened to not be near us when any of his attempts were made, since she was off in Ala Mhigo somewhere.

If you've only just gotten into Shadowbringers, this will be a major spoiler. Don't click unless you're absolutely sure you want to know right now; otherwise, continue the main story and come back later. You've been warned.

The Crystal Exarch is from an alternate future timeline where an Imperial bioweapon gone wrong wiped out most life on the Source, including killing all of the Scions and the Warrior of Light. That's how he would know that Lyse wasn't a Scion anymore at the time of the Calling.

I find this to be a reasonable explanation. If the Exarch never knew that Lyse was masquerading as her sister, he would be looking for Yda, and getting nothing because she's dead.

Although if memory serves the Exarch was explicitly looking for the WoL and kept missing, rather than delibrately looking for the scions as well. Still doesn't explain why she doesn't feel anything. It may just be a detail the writers forgot. A plot as big as this, it happens.

She was in the room when Thancred was taken, and Alphinaud was taken from the other side of the planet, so physical distance doesn't seem to be related.

I'm pretty sure that there was something said about the scions being summoned as an accident, as the calling reached out to the people closest to the WoL due to being unable to grab them precisely (sorry if I'm remembering this wrong). So I think it's just a ,,the plot requires Lyse to stay back in the Source because we made her an important member of the resistance'' kind of deal, also she was kinda a spotlight character of the previous expansion, while some other members of the main cast were largely absent. I'd say it's just a technical choice. Plot-wise it could be explained by The Exarch finally being able to summon the right person, while the next failed attempt would most likely summon Lyse instead. EDIT: just remembered that she didn't get the headache at all so the last sentence is a no.

Tbh, assuming I remember the accidental-calling-thing well, Lyse being summoned would make a lot of sense since she was supposed to become really good friends with the WoL during SB, so if the calling was picking the allies closest to the player character, her not being one of them is kinda off, but then again, I understand the choice. Just a small observation: her being summoned along other scions, while she has a lot of other things to worry about back in Ala Mhigo which is, you know, still pretty much at war with the Empire and a newly established country at that, would add some haste to attempting to return the scions to the Source and that sounds pretty cool.
