I dunno why they would change the weapons when we already have a bunch of Geomancer with bells/rattle maces.Bells would be my guess as well, or possibly something more out there like a compass (they are masters of feng shui after all) if they want to avoid something too close to a staff. I'm just pointing out that Geomancers have used hammers (or at least hammer-like weapons) in the past, so it's not unreasonable for them to have it here.
I hope there's a reason we get put trough that long ass cut scene in E8 every time.
Personally, I would really like to see a "heal by doing damage" type job, and sure, give it a hammer. Cleric? I don't know, I'm not getting into "lore" or what is or isn't a FF job, just sounds fun to me. I'm not a WoW player, but from my understanding, Discipline Priests are a heal by doing damage type class I think? If that helps anyone understand what I mean.
I think Gaia's time stuff is more a reference to Ultimecia seeing how the raid series is ostensibly using FF8 trappings.
Some folks forget that Warrior has the Dwarven Mythril Hammer and Godbert has his goldsmithing hammer too. If anything Namura is just being Namura with his designs.
