Hyur Midlander female faces need... help.

The real problem whith many female midlander is that it look like they have no soul at all.

It's a definite problem. The "blank, empty, vapid stare" is a Midlander female staple.

One other issue for Viera and Elezen - since we're talking about all races now - is height. While there are obvious exceptions, the average height for a human female in our world is close to 5'3". Now, you might be into tall girls; you might be a tall girl - but the normal height for women is relatively short, and I think most people tend to gravitate towards body types that fit that mold (whether they are doing so consciously or not). Add to this that a lot of a great final fantasy women (Aerith, Tifa, Terra, Celes, etc.) - as well as most anime protagonists - have been in that ballpark, and it creates additional bias. Plus, Au Ra and Miqo'te tend to average even shorter than that, making taller female forms feel even loftier than they otherwise might be.

In particular, the Elezen also suffer a proportional issue - they're like 8 feet tall, but their heads are still relatively small compared to their giant bodies, and lengthy limbs, leading to this kind of uncanny valley effect where they come out looking like space aliens. Viera aren't quite that bad, but they're definitely plagued by the same general issue: a really tall race in a world otherwise populated by five-foot-nothing cat and dragon girls. I think this height thing actually is the cause of a great deal of the net negativity revolving around both races' overall character designs.

The typical MMO issue with height is that they normalize walk and run speed so your small races seem to be moving super fast while your large races seem to be lumbering along.

Oddly enough I don't get that sense on any of my Viera (max height). It's either a happy accident or they've got a genius of an animator.

The Midlander run anim kills me every time but I'd love to have their pose on other races. Heck I wish we could configure each of the various animations. I know, I know, everybody will use Miqo'te /panic

Let's just hope they dont add a toast in mouth type of headgear... the sharp rise in accidental romantic encounters and slapstick comedy would be unbearable.

Indeed and it is totally off putting to me, when they are doing emotes etc its fine, but when they are back to their "normal" expression they have a stare similar to the one of a paissa, it is especially the case whith face 3 and 5.

And half the miqo faces have resting b*tch face, same with Viera, while half of the Au Ra faces look like they've been given drugs.

Its not a problem limited to just midlanders lol

Depends on your point of view I guess. I don't think most peoples resting faces have much expression
