    It needs to be changed yes.

    Changed to be MUCH more responsive. Because currently it activates way too slow (like everything in FFXIV honestly). It seems to need to calculate

    1) Where you are.
    2) That you used the ability
    3) Who you used it on
    4) Where they are
    5) Where they need to be.

    It could be a full 1 - 1.5 seconds from when you actually press the button to when the person you use it on goes to where they need to be, meaning there's a good chance they will die. I've "Rescued" many people who's corpse floats over to me (always get a laugh out of that). Add to the above list:

    1) You recognize something is going to kill someone if they don't move NOW.
    2) Mouse mouse over them / or click them
    3) Hit rescue
    4) Repeat previous 1-5 calculations.

    Now the above is even harder on a PS4 where targeting specific players in a PITA.

    Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
    Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
    Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

    Very much so. The thing with PS4 targeting is that it uses the D-pad buttons, which are also skill buttons while you're holding R2, so I can't be preparing to hit the button until I've set the target first. Rescue is also situational enough that I can't afford to have it on the top layer of buttons.

    So it's:

    1. Identify that person is in trouble

    2. Target the right person in the list (4-5 presses)

    3. Press R2 (or double-tap R2 for the expanded menu) to activate skills

    4. Press Rescue

    5. Hope it works.

    It's only really successful if I'm certain ahead of time that the person will need rescuing, and it's still a lot of buttons to do it at the right moment.

    I honestly hate it. Out of all the times I had it used on me, 2 were actually to save me, the rest to troll. And it's not fun and it also kills people. And no, I don't piss healers off, people just find it fun to use rescue to kill or as a pet yanking leash.
    As for using it myself, I've used it in LotA a few times but I mostly find it too clunky to actually rescue when needed.

    It has a nasty delay... I understand why it's there but geez, it's like I need to see into the future before using it. I've had one person die during transit because of the delay, thus the server was like "derr derr he was still there even though he aint".

    The skill whas more useful in stormblood were physical ranged didn’t had arms length. Now I don’t even bother too use reduce anymore in random groups. Because if he doesn’t stand in my healing field and dies I don’t need too rezz him.
