7th Astral is a mess

I swear, if I didnt have friends that kept pushing me thru it, and de syncing me past the dungeons; I would have given up on the game by now!

7th Astral Era is more a 100-quests long.. of boring.. tedious.. Fetch quests with little to no reward. I am not kidding when I say this is a barrier I would have quit at if it were not for active friends. IT'S OFFENSIVE is what it is. I understand why it was made, and what it acomplished a half-decade ago.. now it's a barrier. S.E. Needs to do something about it; easily half of it can simply be cut.

They are, they're greatly streamlining the ARR main scenario in the next content patch, unfortunately due to the current pandemic and SE's staff all working from home this has had to be delayed by a few months. They are working on it though so have patience.

Look on the bright side, for each quest you do, you gain experience points and gil. I suggest you do not take either reward for granted. Who knows, maybe you can find good use for those along your journeys.

In the past, players were not given experience as the level 50 quests used to be end game ones.

BTW, what is your current story quest? The 2.1-2.55 story does build up in the 2.3 patches.

As has been said, SE are working on removing the 'filler' from these MSQ quests. It was necessary back in the day because there wasn't a lot of content in a six-month-old game, but it is redundant now. However - as has also been pointed out - the change is delayed due to Covid.

If it really bothers you that much .... don't do it? You'll miss out on some fantastic story, but if you absolutely can't bear to keep going, stop?

My point being, you've been told they're working on it. You've been told why there's a hold-up. You've even said you understand why it's there. So either push on through the nonsense that will soon disappear or don't, up to you.

If you arent watching the cutscenes(because the story is "tedious and boring") and your friends are helping you skip the ques for the dungeons and trials then why havent you finished these yet? Watching the cutscenes you can blow through these in around 6 hours if you dont have to wait for groups. Skipping is less then half that. And while not all the story telling is on the same level, last time i counted the number of "story relevant" quests in this set was between 65 and 70. Sure 1/3 is a lot of filler(and most of it is front-loaded which makes it feel worse), but even that isnt as bad as its made out to be.

So OP, ill echo Rokku. How far along the chain have you made it? Because the last guy i tried to respond to about this "broke" on the 3rd quest, and its hard to offer encouragement to someone who cant handle even 10 minutes of filler.

Yeah, it just gets ridiculous anymore, especially with someone going through it the first time who goes "GAH I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE!!!" after the 3rd or 4th quest after 10-15min.

At that point it's more like "Sorry but I don't think this game is really for you."

Yes, I get the fetch quests can be a little boring and it's hard to see the point behind them, but surely, on the first character through, you can handle them with a little patience?

But I guess there's skip books now, and I think a lot of people are using them because I run into so many impatient people in dungeon runs. Everybody is in such a hurry anymore.

I remember buying the game for the new MCH job and got mad when it wasn’t a Lvl 1 start job and got even more mad when I had to beat all of ARR to get to it. Then got even more mad when I had to beat all of the post game content until the very start of HW! I truly feel sorry for anyone that got the game for Dancer or GNB. Pray to god the new jobs don’t start at 70
