Excuse me while I ramble on for a bit.

Back during testing we were able to port around la nocea or at least what we had access to at will. The only requisite was that you actually had to make the trip your self once. Aethers are really just tarted up way points no mater how you look at them.

I wonder what the reaction would be if they keep the limiter that anima represents but change how it acts?

What if they scrap anima and replace it all together with a cool down timer? Something along the lines of the length of the timer they put on return when they yanked its anima cost. Perhaps a bit longer though.

It keeps porting a some what finite resource but one that is far easier to manage. Though with this change it might be best to allow travel directly to the aether nodes via teleportation. Though something would have to be hashed out in the event that a party member had not touched that particular node.

Though with this solution you would have to use your ports for long distance travel like they were kind of intended for.

Tl:dr: Pull anima costs replace it with a global cool down timer. Walk your ass to black brush from uldah.

Add this with needing to actually walk to a location to teleport there and you have awesome.

I'm sure tons of people would be upset though as their digital legs have atrophied too much from not walking at all.

Griss I really like that idea that or just require folk to be at an ayther to teleport, when quest require you to travel the whole continent and you dont want to spend 20 min to run somewhere you can blow through anima really quickly.

Let the anima ingame or make it that each teleport cost many many gil
I see what you think. Teleports should make people wait the amount of time it takes to earn many gil. Because otherwise it would just be crazy, right?

And to think people are abusing their kids when the real problem is they're abusing anima!

Airship would be obsolete, but how would chocobos ever be obsolete?

So TheVedis is the first person to actually answer my question.

All the hard work of Airships (crafting 3 cutscenes LOL) would be gone if there were free teleportation. OK.

I'd like to say I'm bummed about that but I'm really not. So no one would ever use Chocobos? Why not? This would be a...

    ..
    ..
    TRAGEDY!

No one riding those birds across my screen EVER! I don't think I could cope with that kind of Final Fantasy.

Unless there was a /chocobo on which put imaginary chocobos on your screen that looked like players riding around. Then ignorance would truly be bliss.

    How about this? (serious proposal)

    -Remove return.
    -Increase armor damage upon HPing.
    - Remove anima cost.
    - Make it so you can't teleport from the menu.
    - Make it so you can teleport... from aether TO aether.

    How about that?

It would still negate airships entirely, might as well remove them from the game at that point.
