    Revamp Dungeons

    We’ve been doing and will be doing every dungeon over and over again. Even if we add new dungeons we’re going to be doing them over and over again. Why not add more versions of the old dungeons that get randomly selected when players queue up.

    Why not mix up the bosses in different arenas. Maybe have some of the bosses walk around in the dungeon and be fought anywhere.

    Perhaps even have a random nemesis attack a party member who drops loot and experience points when defeated by the group, but disappears if targeted player is killed or party wipes. Maybe add an ally that randomly appears to help one of the players because of some high score they obtained in the at the Gold Saucer or they X amount of COMMs that have a % chance to spawn the Mysterious Stranger from fallout. Just throwing out ideas.

    Why not spice things up by revamping old dungeons that we will be running until this game dies. The new dungeons will fall to this fate regardless so why not add random elements as a start?

    Why not add power ups from Deep Dungeon and Heaven on High to regular dungeons? Add more traps and elemental effect what weaken adds like the first area of Sohm Al (Hard) or the spike traps in The Sunken Temple of Qarn (Hard). I want to fight adds in a room where the walls are closing in and are going to kill everything in sight including the adds. I want a floor tiles falling one by one and anyone including adds caught fall to their death. Or tiles popping up from the ground and flying at the groups last standing position. Anyone caught in the path, including adds, will get damaged. Like in Legend of Zelda.

    Allow for visual changes to happen when a BLM uses thunder in water during a battle. Perhaps even allow the shocking water to deal extra damage to the adds.

    I’d say go big on these changes. I notice the Devs have included little things in dungeons that either deal damage or buff the player, but I want more and bigger.
    Add them to the old dungeons what’s there to loose you got 12million accounts created that have already played through these dungeons. Some people played through them hundreds of times. Let’s add new things.

    Edit: I just want to add we've been destroying so many machines in dungeons you're telling me we haven't once been able to pick up any Gatling/Rail guns to mow down waves of adds?

    dungeons like raids are scripted/scuplted out encounters. you cannot randomly just add things into it.

    Sure you can, if making them less scripted/sculpted, in the course of making them more varied and less repetitive, is exactly the change you're pursuing.

    that would have to be a fundamental change in the way of how the devs think about how dungeon design goes. I don't see it happening.

    I didnt even read but I already agree. Dungeons are so mind numbing and the excuses are stupid.

    But yoship said he doesn’t want to make difficult content with a 4 player base due to Healer strain. Which I agree but it’s not savage dungeons (as amazing as that would be) just take us for a spin. Considering how few dungeons we are getting it shouldn’t be this samey

    anyone who's played the game for this long should know how things work by now. unless something changes fundamentally in dev philosophy certain things are just not going to change unless there is a HUGE call for it. anyone who is naive or new to the game should get used to the fact that some of these "ideas" they have for making things "better" should get to know what is likely to change and what is unlikely to change. therefore thoughts can be directed more purposefully towards the things that are more likely to change instead. anything else is pointless.

    The parts mentioned here are all separable. Combined, they may be space-faring, but separately, this is barely asking for the highest point in Indiana.

    "Going big" here is a design philosophy, not a minimum first step.
