If you take the habit to use it in you rotation, you could end to be tricked by yourself when you need it to avoid a push back and the enemy has resist already.
can confirm - but people misjudge how useful the slow is - it's good for delaying damage but you're still taking the full brunt of the damage just at a later time. Still hurts, so not used as much but still useful to have if you're hitting 50% hp and next heal isn't coming out anytime soon.

Nah, it's absolutely meant to be used in dungeons for large pulls. It's a great defensive cd now. It's just not well known, "Slow" being a rarely used debuff and Arm's Length being melee dps exclusive until ShB.

That's something that gets to me too, is how often great advice with reasoning behind it, is simply ignored in this game while that player and others continue to complain that the thing you just tried to help them with is too hard or not working due to some other factor.

I use Arm's Length all the time, I don't know where I'd be in some situations if I didn't have it.

I guess I didn't pay much attention or consideration first time I read the Arm's length tooltip and set my mind to thinking it was just movement speed ever since.

Same might be the case for others. An explanation in the tooltip of what the "slow" effect entails might help.
In many other MMOs, including WOW, a "slow" is a movement impairment and not an attack impairment.

When the tooltips in this game list the terms but not what they mean, it's easy to assume they mean the same as they do in other games. It takes a while for an alert player to notice they aren't applying the expected effect, then a while longer while the player tries to figure out exactly what it is doing (assuming they don't immediately google it). Less alert players may never realize it's not doing what they assume it's doing.

I genuinely hate having to go outside the game every time I get a new ability that lists something like "Additional Effect: Eyes Open" and I have to use google to find out exactly what Eyes Open does.

Full damage per hit, sure. But you're taking fewer hits. If a mob would normally hit you 5 times during the duration, they'll only be hitting you 4 times. They're not going to suddenly throw in that extra missing attack once the debuff wears off. That's a nice reduction in damage taken for that short period of time.

Less the healer has to heal you, the more they can help DPS. The more they can help DPS, the faster mobs die. The faster mobs die, the less damage you take and the less healing the healer needs to do.

It always pays to use mitigation at your disposable as long as you know you don't need to be saving it for a specific mechanic that will be occurring before the mitigation comes back off cooldown again.

Ooh, I never thought of using arms length in that manner. Glad to know.

I’ll be real I JUST started using this as a tank due to one of my friends asking why I didn’t have it hotbarred. On the other hand it won’t be 100% useful in savage content unless you need a crutch ....in dungeons you can do the bare minimum and still complete it and I don’t have any issue with that unless it results in a wipe which never ever happens besides a few with open rooms and the tank being stupid thinking he can Wall-to-Wall but that’s only in like 3 dungones

In Savage and Ex Trials, it's only used for negating knockback (when devs don't just make the knockback go through any protections anyway). Most bosses are immune to CC status effects.

I thought this was pretty well known?
It's mentioned all the time in the Tank forums.
Also use it for large dungeon pulls along with the now AoE Reprisal.

Most ppl just see it as an anti-knockback and don't think on it any further.

Btw, that slow effect also has a limitation in that it only triggers on physical attacks, mobs that only use magic attacks will never be slowed by it. This lowers its effectiveness quite significantly in dungeons that are swarming with magic using mobs.

You do understand how slow works, right? Have you ever been afflicted with it as a DPS?

It quite noticeably lowers your output and you don't just "make up for it" after it wears off.
